Completed it today and I thought the game is excellent, a few frustrating moments with the controls but still very solid (excuse the pun). The story was very good although a bit confusing at times, tied things up and tugged at the heart strings quite a few times. Going to play it again to get some more goodies and try to get my head around the story a bit better

finished it last night at around half 3 and it was nearly 5 once i'd watched all the cutscenes etc and credits... so i reckon thats where the "90min" cutscene is...
mindblowing... the best game I've ever played.
23hours something it took me.could do it way quicker now i reckon but i didn't wanna rush first time.going to try it on the big boss difficulty then the boss. immense game

Good riddance. Wish I'd done it about a year ago.

Re: <**>The Official MGS4 Gameplay Thread(No spoilers!)<**>

I'm trying to do "the boss extreme" difficulty without killing anyone and no alerts... it's bloody hard, you can't buy non lethal rounds! (no buying mosin-nagant or mk. 2 bullets)
I think I can manage the no alerts but I'm going to struggle with not killing anyone.

Edit: ... ... ... I'm at the begining of Act 2 and I'm really struggling, getting up that hill is a nightmare because you have to stand up after you climb up and it's a big gamble whether you give yourself away or not

Re: <**>The Official MGS4 Gameplay Thread(No spoilers!)<**>

Just completed the game.

Now, I have been playing games for a long time now(30 soon) and been through the generation of video games and I have my favorites just like the rest of you. The first mario game as a 5 year old, TMNT on nintendo, the first Zelda, Resident Evil 1, Final Fantasy Vll and then Metal Gear Solid! These are the games that satt the standard for video games for me! These were some of the games that made other games that came after all the better. Today, we are spoiled. We get great games every year, so its even harder today to make a big.."Impact" on gamers that have been around for most of the video game industrys growth into everybodys homes.

I do of course have other favorites such as gears, mass effect, GOW, Balders Gate, Pes, Fifa, KOTOR and the other MGS and Final Fantasy games. So what do I think about MGS4? Now, this is my opinion with I base on what feelings the game gave me from begining to end. As with gameplay, graphics, story, voice acting, begining, ending and lenght. I think its ONE OF THE GREATEST GAMES EVER MADE!!!

The graphics are stunning, story like no other! Best lead character in modern video game, fantastic cut-scenes(though a bit long for most people-NOT for me, cause this is one of the many strong points of the game and they do it better than anybody else. If you want an all out action game you got plenty to choose from. MGS is different there and give you a movie/game experince like no other! You could skip the cut-scenes anyway)

Gameplay if perfect. Whatever you want to do, you can easely do them. With the option of rolling on the ground, change from laying on you back or front, first person view shooting, over the shoulder, running, crawling, gadgets, weapons to name a "few"- Its all there! Like the Drebin points system and I also love how they really make you feel how old and sick Snake is. How you need to take care of your psych etc and how it effect your game.

Boss battles are one of the best parts of the game, and one of the best I have ever had in a game. Many other games have this as well, and just as great but when you add all the other stuff from MGS, it just makes all the better! And the last fight- OMG Loved it!

I have not tried MGO yet as I am waiting for the MGS bluetooth headset sometime this week so I am looking forward to having a go at it.
So if you ever liked the previous MGS games you must have this game, if you didn`t like the MGS series then its not your type of game I guess..
So its hard to think that this is the last MGS game, at least with Hideo leading the front. I do hope and pray we will get more MGS in the future and that it wont be something way different and stupid..
Anyway, I give MGS4 10/10!! NO Doubt!

Re: <**>The Official MGS4 Gameplay Thread(No spoilers!)<**>

been playing this game for a week and have to concur with my fellow above - WHAT A GAME!. If there was one solid game which gave you a reason to buy a PS3 - this is it.

Excellent game play, graphics, and story line. I only ever played (and completed) MGS3 on the PS2 but this one is on a next level. Control system is fluid - great choice of weapons and items (most of which you'll never use!).

Just got to the beginning of Act 4 - I'll be honest I don't want to complete this game as its sooo awesome (being the sort of bloke who never touches a game again once its completed!) Saying that I havn't tried Online mode either yet - hope it doesnt suffer the lag I get from other PSN games!

Highly enjoyable and well recommended.

I'm into act 4 now on my second play through, on the boss extreme, so far so good no alerts and no kills, stealth cammo + bandana here I come

Have to say act 4 is still as special the second time as it was the first.

I'm on act 4 now, really enjoying this. I think the PS3 really got a title worth buying the console alone for.

Re: <**>The Official MGS4 Gameplay Thread(No spoilers!)<**>

Finished it last night. Missus is not happy with me, the final ending sequence is the 'big' one that takes a long time, and at a critical part she tried talking and got a harsh "SSSSSHHHHHH!!!"

Also she wanted me to come to bed but I sat the cutscene out, not realising it was going to take so long. I wasn't flavour of the month this morning lmao.

Absolutely awesome game - though I will say this. Unless you've got a full on high spec (and I'm not talking a £150 Logitech effort here) home cinema I think a lot of the impact MGS4 has goes to waste, in the same way that a movie is better at the cinema compared to watching it on your portable TV in the bedroom... This game needs the secondary hardware to do it justice and I think a lot of people will miss out on that.

Lowe...I know exactly what you're saying. And right now, I'm missing this...

...but today I got my new LCD 32" and the PS3 is happily running at 1080p over HDMI. No external sound system attached though.

The game is simply amazing, some of the very best cinematic experiences I have seen. Most of the time I simply cannot figure out how the PS3 is able to keep up with all the 'on-screen' action, with no dropping of FPS (mind you, even at 1080p).

I am just finishing Act 4, as I make my way out of the hanger with REX. Been playing MGS4 all day long and time for a nap now...

Hopefully, I'll be able to do Act 5 far slower.
