PlayTV: Will it upscale Freeview Channels?

I'm interested in getting the PlayTV (twin-channel DVB-T tuner peripheral & Recorder) when its released in the UK.

I know that the PS3 will upscale DVD's played on it, but will it upscale the Freeview channels when viewed through it?

    Thanks.

A standalone upscaling freeview pvr might be cheaper.

The plus point of this is to provide extra functionality with the PS3 without adding another box into the living room.

Always a good reason when explaining to the wife about getting another gadget!

Re: PlayTV: Will it upscale Freeview Channels?

Yes it does upscale and it's supposedly freeview HD ready as well. Interesting, since I thought the specs hadn't been laid out for that just yet.. I guess it's firmware flashable.

I'm going to be getting one, because if it upscales anywhere near as good as it does with DVDs, then the picture will be far superior to a freeview upscaler with HDMI!

    Interesting.

Either this is the first DVB-T2 device i've heard of, or they are advertising the HD capabilities in the same way all other DVB-T cards do. Yes it can handle HD broadcasts, but just as long as they are in DVB-T.
