Linux PS3

I have currently got Yellow Dog 6.0 on my ps3 and it seems quite cool its a little laggy but it will do the basic web browsing and chatting, i was wonderinf i anybody else has experimented with linux on ps3 maybe fedora or ubuntu? one thing i did want to do was to install vlc and how movies where like on there as you could have alot more codec support than what comes with the ps3, but on yellow dog i was reading guides on how to get VLC and its really complicated.

Ah cool thankyou for the link But i would of thought there was alot more progress in the linux ps3 area from the date on the article?

perhaps. it's a major undertaking to update, and i haven't mustered the strength to do it

if my last expense claims had been sorted, i might be a little more inclined to do so

I reckon you should give it a go i have yellow dog 6.0 on my ps3 and it seems that everything works out of the box, and people have claimed to have good sucess with fedora and ubuntu working with not much tinkering.

ubuntu 8.04 has zero ps3 support.

I think when Ubuntu is realistically usable on PS3, we'll enter a much more positive phase of using PS3 with a serious OS.
