DMC4 'Emulation Software Detected'

I purchased Devil May Cry 4 the other day, installed it no problems, then when i come to play it i get the 'Emulation Software Detected' error. This is a legit game, on a legit disc from a legit retailer - when will software companies learn the only people they stop from playing the game is the people who have purchased it. /end rant.

Anyway i have tried disableing the virtual drive, turning off all emulation options and stopping DT from loading on startup, and no joy. I suspect the game has been blacklisted now so not sure how to get it working

Has anyone had similar issues, any suggestions?

There will be something running in the background in the processes that it is picking up on. Start the task manager and have a look through it. On Alcohol 120% it is Starwind so should imagine that it will be something similar for D Tools.

It could also be CloneCD or DVD if you have one of those installed.

Use the run command and type msconfig and see what is starting up with Windows (Startup Tab).

Ive also had issues in the past with things like process monitor (i have it running as taskmanager replacement)

As ludicrous as it sounds - i normally just download the crack for my legitmately purchased game. It's way less hassle and i don't even need the disc in the drive (in most cases).

This kind of thing is rediculous, now you're not even allowed iso image mounting software.

mainly cos DVD drives are too noisey when they are spinning so it's better to have the game not requiring it.. (it's one reason i'm a fan of steam and digital distribution now... as you don't need a dvd, so less noise)

Yeah that's true too - and i also buy via steam where it's financially good (sometimes hard copies are cheaper) and available.

Exactly, I use it to install the VS Express Editions image as well as many other things, I can't be bothered wasting good CD/DVD discs on things that change every 6 months or so. I just leave them on my server, mount remotely, install, done, all much faster than reading off a CD/DVD. If games publishers think they can tell me that I'm not allowed to use *my* computer how *I* see fit, they can kiss my pasty white Irish butt.
