I'm really surprised this had happened at such a late stage in the process. I mean the beta's been out for ages and some people have the full game already.

I don't see how 2 quotes of the Qur'an should force the total recall of a game that's due to be out in a weeks time. I doubt the same thing would have happened if 2 quotes of the bible or any other book (religious or not) were found in the sound track. It's not like it's being recalled for copyright reasons - it's because it could offend. Therefore, does that not mean the Qur'an is also offensive since it contains those quotes?

The only thing I can think of is that the quotes are in some song that mocks the quotes in the qur'an somehow.

In case anyone asks - a patch is apparently being applied to the disks that are already out there. The recall is in case some people get their hands on it who don't have a net connection (total minority).

The words are:

1- In the 18th second: "كل نفس ذائقة الموت" ("kollo nafsin tha'iqatol mawt", literally: 'Every soul shall have the taste of death').

2- Almost immediately after, in the 27th second: "كل من عليها فان" ("kollo man alaiha fan", literally: 'All that is on earth will perish').

The irony (as with all recalls like this) is that it gets noticed a lot more now with all the fuss that's been caused from it, rather than if it was just released as normal. It will probably have gone pretty much unnoticed. It's a bit like what happened with the AACS encryption key controversy and the Muhammad cartoons controversy. People rebelled and spammed the encryption key all over the internet, and loads of parodies were made of the Muhammed cartoons. I just hope a similar thing doesn't happen with LBP. It's fair enough for this issue to be known worldwide, but that last thing that everyone wants to see are entrire Qur'an levels.

yeah i've seen a few wrong-uns, seems the game will only be delayed for a week, but then thats the same week fallout 3 is released, still this is the sort of game you can just keep going back to.

I'll be surprised if they manage to make the changes they need to, and ship the game out worldwide, with only a weeks delay. I don't know how long it takes to manufacturer and ship games, but a week doesn't seem that long. I just hope the US doesn't get it too long before the rest of the world does, as everywhere is only mentioning North American release dates so far....

LBP should be enjoyable by all. So within 12 hours of hearing about this issue involving a lyric (in Somalian, I believe!), Media Molecule had prepared an automatic day 0 patch and had a new disk image ready; however a decision was made within Sony that the right thing to do for quality and support of people with no on-line was to replace existing disks

Does anyone know that when you want to import photos or images as stickers is it only through the playstation eye or can you add any image either that's saved on your harddrive?

Looks like it's via the PS eye at the moment, although they might patch it later.

If there is a problem with the game for some people, then let the people who would never known what these lines in a song meant buy the game,

If there are any issues after then manufacture an alternative and offer a replacement service for the patched game after,

If anyone were so offended by this game (it is probably the most inoffensive looking game I have ever seen) they probably should not buy the game in the first place
