    Home is epic.

Epic fail. Do Sony KNOW how many people own PS3s? Did they even consider how much load to anticipate & deal with?

    Re: PS3 Home V1.0

My flatmate said he's not going to even bother installing it.

I'm not that bothered about not getting to have a go on it at all either. Numerous friends have all said its painfully slow and not even worth it once your done waiting for things.

It's not on the store, it should magically appear just above the store on the XMB... at least it has for me.

    Re: PS3 Home V1.0

I got the 1.03 update, after that could not log in. Then later in the evening I tried and got straight in, having to download my Summer House and Theatre again. Then it kicked me off after 15mins.

It's working smoothly for me now, on a 1.5Mb connection... been on for the last hour or so.

    Re: PS3 Home V1.0

I'm in agreement with directhex on this one, epic fail.

I'd always assumed the service would trip over itself when it launches to the masses, but I'd kept a smidgen of hope that they'd be able to pull it off.

There's something inherently wrong about the PS3 interface, it's completely unintuitive. You never know where to look for starters - I tried setting up folding@home recently and there's no mention of it anywhere, the best bet is to look on Google.

The same applies to Home, is it here, is it there, who knows. My console froze a few times last night when I tried to go into account management or the playstation store. Then, after a few reboots, the Home icon just randomly appeared. Again, no announcement, no description, no news, just a new button.

Granted we all know what it is but for the casual user...

Anyhow, downloaded it, installed it, loaded it up, got the usual lengthy "accept this agreement" blurb that accompanies every task on the PS3. After that, kept trying to sign in and it spat out random error messages that make little to no sense. Why can't it just say "busy, try later"?

Gave up and turned it off, will try it again later this evening and should hopefully be impressed as my expectations couldn't be much lower.

    Re: PS3 Home V1.0

It's still a beta, you were expecting perfection? This is basically load testing.

Perhaps I'm just not bitter since I had no problems and jumped straight in... I wandered around a bit and it seemed quite slick. There's almost no content yet tho, so you're not missing much. I'm looking forward to trying out the games rooms, for Uncharted etc, as I'm not really sure what they entail yet.

    Re: PlayStation Home: discussion thread

I wasn't expecting perfection, but I'd expect most betas to load.

Will be trying it again later today though, once the teething problems have hopefully be ironed out. Home doesn't have a whole lot of appeal to me but I reckon the missus may find it cool so I'm hoping it'll be up and running.

These haters are quick to comment on this open Beta.

I'm in and have had no problems and also met up with a couple of friends.

    Ditto.

I gave it about an hour to try and log in last night, with no success

I launched Home last night at about 10pm, it loaded up then told me to download a 77mb file...which I did. I got the next stage where it was 'initialising' and it just timed out!!!

Slightly off topic, is there a website where you can access your PSN account to add/remove friends or send/receive messages?
