Unhappy is it the console or the game thats doing this :( :( :(

Its only on call of duty 4 when online that it does it.. but the CD is SERIOUSLY scratched i have no idea how it still works becuase i tiped the console while the disk was in there creating a horrible circle on the disk, no idea how it still plays, the slightest finger print will stop it from reading.

but recently while playing online it will freeze with the little pulled out plug connection picture and says server connection timed out which is rubbish becuase i have good internet and always 4 bar's.

and then once its gone back to the screen on which you pick

    Xbox Live
    Split Screen

ect ect i pick Xbox live and then it just freezes.. i have to turn it off and on again. it does not do this to any other game which is not scracted and works perfectly.. only does it on the scratched to **** CoD4. will a new CD fix the problem?

    cheers lads.

Got this alot with call of duty as well, just means you are losing connection with the host - most people in the match will probably get it as well.

Nothing wrong on your end mate.

You could try taking your disc into Game or Gamestation and get the repair thing done on it which buffs out scratches. At least that way you will know that it isn't the disc. Mind you if its only doing it multiplayer it and working fine single player it suggests something wrong with the servers.

installing it on the HDD just made it do it more oftern. its not very frequent but it always seems to happen when the match is about to finish and get around 1500 xp for the match, THE GAME DONT WANT ME TO SUCCEED ( oh btw i dont get 1500 that oftern) i dont think buffing the cd up would make a blind bit of difference considering how scracted it is. i would put a picture up and you'd think how the hell is that still going.

Fairly sure its the disk mate. My friend had the same problem on COD 4 on his 360, he picked it up while the game was running, a nasty whirring sound was heard, and a perfect circular scratched ended up on the disk. It now freezes whenever he plays the "Heat" mission. Also, I know someone whose disk was scratched in such a way he can't play downpour online anymore.

The whole 360 disk scratch problem is kicking off a lot at the moment. Microsoft say it affects less than 1% of users (still, that's 250,000 people) and there's a class action going through in the US at the moment trying to prove Microsoft KNEW disks were scratching before the 360 was released and decided against doing anything. I believe there's a disk replacement program in place if it's a Microsoft game, not sure what you can do about scratched 3rd party disks though. Maybe get in touch with MS and tell them your console's scratching disks, my mate just had his replaced for this problem. He got it done under warranty, despite the fact his original box was bought 2 years ago. Something to do with having 7 replacement xBoxes since then lol!

i not sure do you think you could have damaged the ethernet port or cable so when the bandwidth is near max it cant use the max bandwidth since in the cable there are 8 wires maybe one or two is damaged so when the connection need to transfer more data it cant? just a thought

i dont think ethernet works like that, if its damaged it cant make the connections and craps out.
