Pointless update.
I think the only PS3 update I noticed and appreciated was the addition of the clock.
The lack of .mkv support was embarassing a year ago, now it's just getting ridiculous - an HD media device that doesn't support the best HD media format. Sort it out Sony!
I'm sorry what mainstream systems support MKV? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matroska
By looking at the article I can see only a few from brands I have heard of and even then they are not mainstream players like Sony, Panasonic, Microsoft etc.
It might be a popular 'download' format and I personally would like support. I just think it is about as likely as them adding torrent support.
Update:
I realise I have been defending Sony here. I'd just like to list my missing features:
- Basic Music Playback
- Advanced music playback including new visualisations, iplayer radio support, internet radio and podcasts
- Youtube and iPlayer native apps
- Better codec and container support
- Sony Europe to stop acting like Nintendo Europe and release the flipping games (SF2HDR, Lumines etc)
My Moon on a stick wants:
- License stores like you license games, Game/Gamestation/HMV would be much more pro-digital distribution if they could bring out their own store apps
- Software PS2 support, either through emulators or updated game engines
- a nice discreet powered USB hub for those with 2 USBs
- Home being worthwhile
- Previews of the content you buying: either video, screens or prefferably time limited demos.

Now torrent support, that would be... seriously though, I expect Sony to be pushing to make the PS3 leaders in the HD media field, letting the other brands follow them... it just hasn't been happening yet.
Your points are pretty fair with regard to future additions... and you've just reminded me what a letdown Home was
The bowling and pool on Home is fun, plus now they have added the Red Bull Fly around through hoops and an area bar (forget which game). It needs more content to be better. Home is still beta, its not a final release. Wish people would remember that. Expect it to be content-less, feature-less, and pretty much mundane. If you had access to one of your games in beta it won't be as good as the final thing. Heres hoping anyway.
I think iPlayer is being developed for the PS3, why do you need YouTube app when you can access it from the browser? Which yeah the browser is pretty naff. If they could get FireFox powered one that would be sweet.
USB hub ... uhh they are around, just buy one and draw SONY on it.
MKV support? They would have to be seriously desperate to add support for the format that the vast majority of BLURAY rips appear in!
You think Sony are going to add that any time soon?

Being able to play music whilst playing a game is the only thing I'd ever want from an update. Can't see it ever happening though.
Enabling playback of lossless audio files like flac would be good
