Better alternate to iPod shuffle and console games

My 9 years old son is very reckless and almost lost his 10th DS game (latest Mario). Is there a better alternate to these gamecards? I can’t afford to keep paying for the games that I already bought. Any suggestions?

I have no intensions of jumping to grey area and/or any illegal stuff.

Also read a discussion thread about replacing iPod shuffle and use DS lite to play songs... how?

I don't think a technological solution is what you need. You say your son is reckless yet you keep replacing his games.

Try teaching him the value of things and that if he loses them he wont get another. If losing something costs you nothing; you wont look after it, this applies to adults and children alike.

Backing up games is as you were previously told is something we don't allow discussion of here, the only advice I could offer on that would be the same as chuckskulls.

As far as using a DS lite as an MP3 player goes from what I remember Nintendo did release an add-on that fits the DS lite for just that purpose.
