Demo on XBOX Live
Must admit first thoughts is excellent, deffo going to buy this on release ..
Who Likes or Dislikes it ??
Grabbed it last week, it's not to bad but its far to easy. Played it on the hardest setting and it seems that the assisted and non-assisted modes are the wrong way round. In non assisted its far to easy and assisted is just an in plane view.

It's not to bad but from memory, last time I played a game like this was Ace Combat and personally to me it feels a lot better. I have been playing Blazing Angels on the 360 and I prefer the dog fighting in there to. Think I will wait till hawx drops down in price a bit before I get it.

I loved the demo, might buy it but maybe for PC, not sure.

I think the game is great -it has an excellent selection of planes including prototypes and very good graphics, including real satellite images of mission landscapes. I think the campaign is great and very enjoyable, if a little short. The co-op campaign is also very good. However, I'm a little disappointed with the realism of the game though ie you can fly the plane sideways without losing altitude and you can accelerate upwards as quickly as when you are nose-diving towards the ground - it's like flying without gravity. I also wish the planes were more realistic as they all seem very similar and it's possible to win a dogfight with an agile fighter while piloting a bomber. I think the planes are far too agile in the game - some of the manoeuvres would cause a pilot to black-out. These are minor points, however. I do like realism in games over balance but I think this is acceptable, since the game feels more like an arcade fighter game rather than a simulator.
I think I should mention a problem I had with getting some achievements in the game: I played through the first few missions and got achievements as expected but I then joined a co-op game with a few of my friends and didn't get any. I thought this was normal until I had to rejoin and started getting them. I searched the Internet and found I wasn't the only one with the problem. I later found a way to get them - start the game but don't select a storage device then play through the game until you have the achievements you need.
Overall I think this is a great game and I suggest downloading the demo to give it a try. I would talk more about the story but I don't want to spoil it for anyone who is going to buy the game.
8.5/10
Looks like a nice game having played the demo. Better with a joystick i presume? Looking to see if the price will drop a bit before i buy the full game. Unless anyone wants to 'give' me thier copy!! lol
Played the demo. It doesn't really seem to offer anything that the now long-in-the-tooth Ace Combat series doesn't. So no, I won't be buying it.
Which ACE COMBAT is the one to go for then? I see there are numerous editions!
The ones I played were on the PS2 - Ace Combat Zero and Ace Combat 4. They are pretty samey.
Played the HAWX demo - uninstalled it straight away. Really didnt like it, the viewpoints were naff and it was too much of an arcade game for me.
