    Red face repair questions

I logged my RROD repair on the web site - 70 quid? I thought it was cheaper than that? It show that my warranty ran out on Dec 07, but thats the standard 1 year, no?
This hot girl came over to myspace last night, she twittered my yahoo till I
googled all over her facebook. Ask Jeeves...

    Re: repair questions

Yeah, you are covered for upto 3yrs with the RROD. I suggest you actually ring Microsoft support about it and book the repair in via one of their agents.

    Re: repair questions

As Ferral said, give them a ring. The Xbox is under 3 years old so they should repair free of charge.

    Re: repair questions

Failing that, I repaired mine with a kit from ebay (that never cost that much) took a bit of time, patience and some swearing. It's just a case of replacing the thermal paste on the GPU and CPU, assuming it's caused by the normal problems. I would only recommend this as a last resort though.

    Re: repair questions

well I bought a kit, and some thermal paste + cleaning alcohol, and...it worked! The 'kit' comes with typos and wrong amount of washers and all that (!) but it saved me a few quid!

I didn't think they asked for proof, unless it was previously registered and bought 2nd hand....

I think they ask if the machine it's self is older the 3 years. My original xbox had a manufacture date of Nov 2005, when it died in Feb this year I phoned them up and they asked for proof of when it was bought, that of course was in Jan 2006 So I missed out on a free repair by a month. Bought a new machine instead.

I had almost exactly the same thing except they didn't ask when I bought it (and I certainly didn't volunteed the information) and yet they accepted it. I guess some of it's just down to which random call centre spod you talk to.

Hell sometimes they even repair 360s that have had the seal broken already. It's a bit hit and miss.

I've had a good few repaired, all took between 11 and 15 days from the date they left.
