I've read on Edge magazines web site a couple of weeks ago they are gonna phase out the current Premium model and make the Elite the main console and drop its price in September.
If thats true is it worth waiting and see what happens?

allegedly there is gonna be a sort of super elite which has 320gb hard drive, i think i saw it on preorder at hmv for £999. its not on there anymore though so may not actually exist
there will always be newer versions coming if you are gonna buy one just buy whichever you fancy at this stage. I had a 20gb pro initially now own an elite i like having the 120gb hard drive,
even if they phase out the pro the price wont drop that much on the elite i would have thought.
What does the elite give you that the pro doesn't? If it's just the 120gb drive (over the 60gb), it wouldn't be a surprise, as the cost price between those drives will be literally pennies.
Microsoft will have to do something soon as once the live streaming HD 1080p movies and sky player land and you start downloading your favourite shows and footy matches etc, the 120gb isn't even going to touch the sides for space needed.
The Elite has an HDMI port, but other than that not alot i don't think. I am tempted with getting the cheap 360 with no hdd, and buying the 120gb hdd on its own, it'll cost a bit more than the 60gb pro model. What res does the elite go up to on hdmi, have you tried?
Would you beable to use the xbox as a DVR and save programs from sky to the hard drive ?
I got one as a birthday present a couple of days ago, am trying to hook it up to my pc with ethernet cable but no joy yet, keep getting msg saying limited connectivity.

Yeah, the Elite just comes with an HDMI cable: the Premium and Arcade don't. But all current models have an HDMI port (if you buy second hand, open up the box and check which version you're getting).
Wouldn't surprise me at all if they come out with a 500Gb or 320Gb version: games on demand are going to eat into that hard drive space as well.
