Question Xbox > PC > Monitor... Possible?

Hi, i have a Xbox 360 and it came with a RCA lead which plugs into the TV usually... However, i realised today that my PC has RC Input holes...

My Monitor is currently connected to the PC through the AVG cable.

Is it possible for me to plug my xbox into the RCA inputs on my PC and then get the xbox 360 picture and sound onto my monitor, taking the pathway:

xbox > PC (through RCA) and then PC > Monitor (through AVG).

I believe you would need some form of video capture software as it sounds like you have a TV card in your computer, did you get any discs with your computer with software on?

    It is a Dell monitor...

Re: Xbox > PC > Monitor... Possible?

Thats quite complex to do, a simpler method(and the one I use), is to have a quick look what other inputs your monitor has, then find the correct converter(normally less than £5 online). Most dell monitors I've come across have at least 2. Either Dual VGA or a DVI and VGA.

If your monitor has Dsub, just buy an official Xbox VGA cable. Considerably less hassle and infinitely better quality.

I got mine running through VGA on my old Dell 2005FPW screen too... just get a decent one (official if possible) because cheaper ones may sometimes suffer ghosting (which I unfortunately get lol).

Re: Xbox > PC > Monitor... Possible?

Hmm, ok, thanks. But how would the sound be transferred from the Xbox to the speakers seeing as that cable only transfers video...

I have external speakers powered seperatly by an AC adapter and they are inserted into the headphone slot of the PC...

    thanks

There is a L&R scart type plugs that come off the cable also. The official VGA one comes with a 2>1 converter so you can use it with pc speakers etc.

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Re: Xbox > PC > Monitor... Possible?

I found a VGA cable which also has the stereo phono to 3.5mm stereo jack ( i would post URL but the thing wont let me) on ebay.. however, my speakers have a "male" jack which plugs into the PC's "female" slot... where would the "male" stereo jack coming from the xbox be plugged into?:S

Yeah I just went down to Maplins and got myself a dual-phono to 3.5mm jack female, and plugged in the monitor speakers into that.
