    Re: Heavy Rain

Depends what you hate about Indigo Prophecy, if it's the way the game plays then Heavy Rain's probably not for you. If you don't like the way it becomes a bad Matrix rip and looses the plot about 3/4's of the way in then you're just like everyone else that played it and I wouldn't worry about it

I finished Heavy Rain myself last night, and it might not be some peoples cup of tea but I thought it was brilliant despite the niggles. Game of the year material as far as I'm concerned. I reckon the first play through took about twelve hours but I managed to keep all the characters alive 'til the end, I imagine if you loose one or two of them you don't get quite so much play time. Replay value, that depends how much you want to see the story play out differently and how much time you're willing to invest, my understanding is there's twenty or more different endings. How much they differ from each other I don't know (yet) but the bonus "scene" I got as part of the collectors edition plays out very differently depending on the few minor decisions you make and it's only about twenty minutes long so I have high hopes for the main game being the same in that respect.

I was mainly annoyed by the fact that your character handles like a shopping trolley with four missing wheels, that the conversation time limits were so tight I ended up saying anything that looked usable before I ran out of time - without being able to consider which ones to choose, and that it creeped me out a bit. Felt very odd during and after playing it, quite down and disconnected from reality... maybe it wasn't linked but I'm fairly confident that it was.

It certainly felt unique, but I'm equally not convinced that it was ground breaking. Should also mention that the sex scenes were pretty dire and the graphics were appalling, but they're hardly game breakers.

I actually just purchased my 1st playstation, (PS3 Slim 250GB, PlayTV, HR, GT5 and LBP from argos - £300) largely on the stength of this game. Having never owned a PS3 before (always been a PC gamer) i must say i'm very impressed, and the game is very good. I just hope i don't complete it too quickly! GT5 Prologue and LBP should keep me going for a good long while.

I was truely engrossed in the game and with the characters, it was like I knew them personally, and it was all a part of my life. Hats off to the devolpers.

Awesome game, I highly recommend it.

    Re: Heavy Rain

Just completed my first run through the game. It's a unique game as others have said here.

You can really empathise with the characters especially with the thoughts dialogue and even during the action scenes where you feel that sense of panic as you try and press the correct sequence of buttons.

As mentioned before some scenes had poor graphics considering all that pre-release footage and hype we had seen. And the controls are awkard at times with camera angle changing automatically.
