Educate me please, bluetooth headsets
I'm currently shopping around for a PS3, and was planning to use my amp and speakers for regular sound. I'm just a little bit confused about where the sound will go with a bluetooth headset. Looking at the official Sony one it seems to be a mono headset, so I assume not all of the game sound comes out of the speaker. Questions for PS3 and headset owners if you don't mind:
- Does the headset just do the voice comms each way and the game sound come out of your normal speakers?
- If so how do people find having a headset in one ear and normal sound elsewhere?
- If not, does anyone use a mono headset?
I was hoping to stay away from proper headphones, I wanted to be a couch gamer and get away from the PC experience, but if it's going to be a lot of faff I could just use stereo headphones with a mic. Thanks Hexus folks
Re: Educate me please, bluetooth headsets
Hi,
I use a small bluetooth ear piece and I only hear voice chat in my ear and have the gaming sounds coming from my tv, I dont hear any voice chat through my tv and the mics good enough to be able to hear my friends and they hear me clear enough.
I find it very easy to use and hardly notice it's there.
Re: Educate me please, bluetooth headsets
Thanks gtech. Separating the sound like that and only having the voice coming out of the headset made sense but I wanted to double check. Sounds like a good system.
Re: Educate me please, bluetooth headsets
you can configure the voice chat to come through either the TV, or the BT headset.

Ah awesome. Still to find a 120GB PS3 in stock yet alone for the £200 price everyone keeps talking about!
Re: Educate me please, bluetooth headsets
Yep, voice chat comes through the headset as default - everything else will come through your speakers.
If you're in the market for a headset, the official Sony one really is much better than any others in terms of sound quality and clarity of voice.
