360Elite + Kinect + Update=No HDMI output..
Wired the Kinect upto the Elite and stuck it in the boys room, it picked up the Kinect n said it had to install some update or other, no problems there.
Boy brings PS3 upstairs and as its got wifi and the 360 doesnt the Xbox went back downstairs next to the BTHHub so it can be plugged straight in, PS3 upstairs on TV no issues.
However, the 360 now refuses to work with any other TV other than the one the boy has in his room, I even had his TV next to the one downstairs and went thru the initial setup as well as every HDMI output option on the old TV and nothing, pluged it into 3 other TV's with several other HDMI cables (all of which work with the Elite and the boys TV) yet it just doesnt work..
Anyone else heard this or seen of anything similar, it used to work on this other TV but since it went upstairs, had the Kinect update put on its not wanted to work elsewhere, talk about well annoyed..
Re: 360Elite + Kinect + Update=No HDMI output..
Is your upstairs TV 1080 and your downstairs only 720p?
Can you hear the sound on the downstairs one? Or is there no sound or display?
I dont have an elite but is there another way of connecting it up and then try restoring it to defaults? Using a component cable for example?
Re: 360Elite + Kinect + Update=No HDMI output..
I've gone thru all combinations of output from 480 to the "PC" resolutions, it will only work on the TV in the boys room..
Re: 360Elite + Kinect + Update=No HDMI output..
try connecting up to boys tv, then changing the hd settings to 480? i think, then try on your tv, shou;d work, and then change the settings back to 1080
Re: 360Elite + Kinect + Update=No HDMI output..
I have the same issue with a 360 I bought from a mate - it worked over HDMI for him, and it works first time on the TV in the bedroom but won't output over HDMI to my main TV/AVR in the living room. I tried various combinations of resetting the video outputs and none of them worked.
Would be interested if you manage to fare any better.
Re: 360Elite + Kinect + Update=No HDMI output..
Could be something to do with the spec of the HDMI used possibly? Could be that they dont support 1.3 or something like that? Try with a different HDMI cable.
I was thinking it could be an HDCP issue initially however the general interface and games should still work so i dont think it could be that.
Re: 360Elite + Kinect + Update=No HDMI output..
Ok, let me expand on the original post, I thought I had covered it in detail but obviously not clear enough...
I had the boys tv connected next to the TV it used to work on but doesnt work anymore, I would select a different mode and then plug the older tv and press the button, I did this on all HDMI resolutions that were available from 480 thru to 1080 i and p then thru the "PC" modes 1024x768 upwards, none of them worked on the old TV.
I have also tried 3 different HDMI cables on the old TV including the one that came with the XBox, all of these cables work on the boys tv yet do not on the old TV..
The old TV has 2 HDMI ports, I have tried both of these and still nothing even though the ports work fine with other things plugged in.

Cheers, I'll try that, although it mentions pressing buttons while the xbox logo comes up, mine displays nothing at all...

Can you try connecting it with the composite/component cable?

I think that's how I sorted mine out, I remember a similar problem to what you have and the only way for me to sort it, was to use a composite cable turn the console on, then turn it off, disconnect it, connect the HDMI lead and that seemed to solve it.
If you have no luck trig, I think I have a spare cable I could mail over to you. Just PM me your address on here or the igi forums.
Re: 360Elite + Kinect + Update=No HDMI output..
If the Elite came with one then I might have one in the box still, I'll go digging shortly..
Failing that I'll bung you a few quid to cover postage..
Re: 360Elite + Kinect + Update=No HDMI output..
There should be one in the box, I got component and HDMI cables with my Elite :)
