    HDD upgrade

Does anyone have any suggestions for a HDD upgrade for a 60GB PS3. I upgraded to a 320GB immediately but that's full. I'm thinking 1TB.

    Re: HDD upgrade

There is a Digital Foundry article from last February about upgrading the HDD :

    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...-upgrade-guide

We had a discussion here about it also, at the time there were issues with firmware version released causing problems upgrading the HDD. Should imagine that issue will now have been resolved. I have a 250Gb slim but loads of space available, I stream content from Windows to my PS3 and have about 10 games installed on it.

May be worth seeing what you have on there that you dont want or use and delete it to free up some space.

Thanks, that looks interesting. Streaming isn't for me and as my PS3 stores firmware on a flash chip I don't think I have that USB firmware bother.

    Re: HDD upgrade

I am talking about the software for the PS3 released by Sony, forced updates you get every so often when you turn the machine on, not a USB variation of the software.

It was an update from Sony that was stopping the HDD upgrades from working on some machines at the time.

    Re: HDD upgrade

Standard laptop 2.5" drives work, don't bother with 7200 rpm as the PS3 doesn't get any extra performance from the extra speed.

It's ashame about the high prices atm and 2.5" in general are also more expensive, checkout the following:

    Re: HDD upgrade

I'm just about to upgrade my PS3 HHD to a Samsung 640Gb (Spinpoint M7) which cost £43 delivered in readiness for the PS+ discount in September.
Hopefully that will be big enough for the time being

    Re: HDD upgrade

I personally have the same one as the guy above (640gb m7) but was thinking about a Samsung 1Tb m8 which is supposed to work well - I read some time ago that they run best - 5400rpm is best - I also changed the sata settings of the drive from 300 to 150 as this was also supposed to optimise setting for the ps3
