The GT6 Thread

Couldn't see much about this, so I thought I'd start something.

There doesn't seem to be as much hype about this one as 5, but I think it's better.
The progress seems a lot more linear, as in if you need a car for a competition, you don't have to go and win one from a series in another licence block.

What cars have people got? I started off in the equivalent of the Honda Jazz, and you can trick it up a fair bit, but cos it's quite high, it rolls if you hit a kerb at an inopportune moment.
So now I'm mainly using the Clio RS that I won for something or other, quite a nice, stable car. I tried the Lancia Stratos for one race, but it's very oversteery, even if you sort the suspension and tires...

Edit: The other thing I meant to ask; are people using a wheel, or just the standard controller? I've been looking at wheels but they all seem to have increased in price since GT5 came out. £250 for a G27! I'm sure they were just over £100 before...

Tbh would of been an instant buy exactly the same as all the others till i learned it had micro transactions pretty much killed it instantly for me their...

I've got it but refuse to play it until my seat and frame turn up for the G25 I have sitting here!

I literally started GT5 last week :( Should I forget that and go straight to 6?

One weird thing I noticed with 5 is that it didn\'t use the triggers for acceleration/braking. Seems like a missed opportunity.

GT5 used the triggers for me. Could use triggers or analogue stick, I hate the stick and couldn\'t have played it otherwise.

Odd, I fired it up, got to the first license test and was squeezing the right trigger getting nothing. Had to use X. Will look in the config next time I'm on it.

Back on topic (sort of) - I think I remember the microtransactions in 6 are just "get it quicker" cash boosts, you can still grind to get the same rewards.

GT5 is best with analogue stick acceleration braking IMO, I would try it. Takes a bit of getting used to, but it's much easier on the thumbs than hammering X. I didn't really enjoy GT5, but it's well worth playing through if you've got it I reckon.

I'm waiting for a big drop in price before I go for GT6. Maybe £15 would do the trick.

I got the 15th Anniversary Edition, so all the cars I'm using are the special edition ones. I did go and buy a Nissan GT-R (just because I wanted to, and 1 million credits was just sitting there) and whatever the default car was (because you had to).

Got to International A and I'm enjoying the game so far. Although there is a lot of waiting between races, and loading through the menus is time consuming.

From my first GT game, GT3, I've always used controllers, never saw a reason to have a wheel setup. This however is the first GT game that I used cockpit view as default.... seems to work pretty well in this game, compared to the non-existent cockpit views in previous games.

By default the triggers are mapped for Gear Up and Gear Down. Go to options and change them to accelerate and brake....you gotta do it manually. This was the same in GT5, don't know why.

Regarding the micro-transactions, so far it's just credits.... although it is annoying that because you can buy credits for real money, you don't get a reward boost for turning off things like driving assists and breaking lines. A boost in race reward was the reason that you turn off some driving assists (at least for me). Now you get the same reward if you have full assists or none.

Yeah, I got the same edition, but I'm trying not to use the special edition cars, and trying to 'do it properly'. Then I'll get the big guns out later...

With my PS3 dying the other week I picked up the 500gb Slim bundle with this and Last of Us. Haven't had chance to try it yet and won't do now till the new year, but will look forward to getting the G25 out and giving this a thrash. :)

To be fair, that sounds pretty accurate :D

Played a few hours last night with the G25 finally setup.

Got to say, I was fairly impressed, although not sure if its GT6 or the steering wheel setup but it seemed much easier then previous versions. Did the first license all golds without failing or retrying any of the events.....which was very odd indeed.

Played through to the forth amateur cup just using the Honda FIT and the Alfa Romeo, felt good.

The graphics are what they are but the gameplay does feel good.

I would hope so.

Although again, for accuracy, it should be *fun* for rally stages :)

If you see footage of the VK Stratos blatting about on stages, that is for fun. I gather if the owner wants to actually compete, he uses his Focus.

Interesting to hear what you guys are saying on this, it's had some poor reviews and it's kinda put me off.
But i think once christmas is out the way i might get myself a copy of this.

I picked this up for £20 from Amazon when it was on sale and it is much the same as GT5 but having said that i have enjoyed it and there are some small differences, loading times still suck and damage is rubbish but other than that it is good.
