    No more Wii Wifi?!

I'm probably late with the news... but I've only just heard....
    Disappointed

"As of May 20th, 2014, the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service will be discontinued and it will no longer be possible to use online features of Nintendo DS/DSi and Wii software such as online play, matchmaking and leaderboards."

No more Mario Kart Wii with the world! The end of an era.....

Does anyone know if BBC iPlayer will still work? Can't seem to find any info on that... so hopefully assuming no news is good news!

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.... It was them that started me drinking.

From what I believe you will still be able to use iPlayer and buy stuff from the store, I think it is just going to be the online multiplayer type stuff that is getting shut down, probably trying to push a few people over to Wii U.

    Re: No more Wii Wifi?!

i think Ferral is correct. Its surprising that with that many Wii's out there.. they would do this. Of course, my Wii is sitting on a shelf.... has been for about 8 months.

    Re: No more Wii Wifi?!

I did read that the store would still be active, so hopefully you're right and it's just games that are affected.... shame, but our Wii does get used for iPlayer more than games so fingers crossed that's the case :-)

    Re: No more Wii Wifi?!

Its not something they have gone into depth with unfortunately, I can't see them removing that though.

I have looked around the net and it does appear to be just the multiplayer games and stuff like trading cards on Pokemon that are being mentioned. I should imagine things like iPlayer, Netflix etc will be the same servers for all systems they are available on
