4.66 CFW from stock 4.31 on Phat PS3 40GB - Do I need to be on 3.55 or higher than 4X

Hi guys,
Basically just got a 40gb ps3 phat for cheap and I used to have a rogero build phat years ago, haven't been in the scene for awhile and no matter what cfw I try for 4.66 on different formatted fat32 memory sticks I get a corrupt data error
Do I need to be on a higher firmware or a lower 3.55 cfw to do this?
My console is a CECHG04-3-279-630-01 any info would be greatly appreciated!

Basically you need have installed a CFW at version 3.55 and then any higher version. If your ps3 has > 3.55 without it being a CFW, you are basically fooked without an expensive programmer and hours of soldering

Stock 4.31 does mean programmer, tools to patch your firmware and hardware flash back.

Quite a pain.
