Re: PS4 Pro + SSD worth it?
With some open world games it made a difference with load times - Digital Foundry has done some testing.

A big difference? I tend to play games like Uncharted, Need for Speed, Devil May Cry etc. I don't have the time to sink into MMO/RPG games, and I prefer FPS on a PC.
Re: PS4 Pro + SSD worth it?
I just grabbed a 2TB Seagate USB drive and plug that in the back of my Pro - tons of storage, don't really notice the load times being that bad
Re: PS4 Pro + SSD worth it?
b0redom, we've stuck a 1TB SSD in our PS4 Pro. The difference isn't as night and day as when you do the same in a PC, but definitely noticeable. Especially in games like Rocket League, where you load in slightly after the PC players and loads earlier than the HDD PS4 users.

Here are the tests Digital Foundry made:

Re: PS4 Pro + SSD worth it?
Looks like PcPer did a review with a more recent SSD and seems like it is worth it:

I'll get myself one as a treat when I finish my AWS certifications.
Re: PS4 Pro + SSD worth it?
Oh nice, with SSD prices dropping, I might pick one up for my PS4.

PS4 with ssd is useless, because all games are optimized for hdd and you will not see the difference with ssd
Re: PS4 Pro + SSD worth it?
I have a SSD on a external hard drive enclosure connected to my Xbox One X and loading times are much much faster than from the onboard HDD.
For example, open world games like Witcher 3 have no loading for objects when travelling between different areas. Also in Division 2 travelling between maps in so much faster. Also loading times of games like Destiny 2 is ridiculously fast compared to HDD.

That's jut not true, there is a measurable difference.

Yeah, nah.
I had a spare SSD doing nothing and popped it in my PS4 and it has made a noticeable difference to me.
Re: PS4 Pro + SSD worth it?
I have a standard 2Tb drive in my PS4 Pro and to be honest it is nippy enough, the SSD will be quicker but from my experience here the standard drives are good enough. Only Red Dead 2, Skyrim and a few other open world games take a little longer to load due to what they are loading in.
Re: PS4 Pro + SSD worth it?
Related to the above, I've found that Crash Team Racing takes an absolute age to load on a HDD, it somewhat ruins the entire multiplayer gaming experience when you're trying to play 4-player split screen. We're talking 90-120 seconds to load in each track.
