Any news about 5th wave? Thnx
In case you've missed it, there's this recent speculation: https://hexus.net/gaming/news/hardwa...major-feature/
Don't understand why people create posts re: PS5, see a ton of them on Reddit.
VERY few people in the world will know the actual details and the rest is speculation.
I guess it's curiosity about what the next generation could bring, fueled by the hope that there's either been an announcement that they've missed, or that concrete details have been leaked that they missed.
To be fair, it's a situation you could apply to pretty much anything and it wouldn't look out of place.
I've got a feeling the PS5 will be announced this year. I read a report recently that the new Xbox consoles will be announced at E3 2019, now we know Sony is not attending E3 this year but that doesn't mean we don't get a standalone event announcing the console to make sure they don't get left behind in the market. On top of that, at E3 last year Sony only had 4 games to show and not much has been announced since, it look to me as though the PS4 is winding out, Sony may well be getting ready for the launch of the PS5. Hold tight more information is coming soon, I'm sure.
Like mobile phones is there any real benefit now? I'd still say the current gen has lots of life left in it.
I don't see the next gen doing well unless one of them can pull something special out the bag.
PS4 VR is good but not great. I hope that's a target for next gen. I sit far enough away from my TV than 1080p isn't notable for pixels and the Pro is already outputting 4k though I guess they'll start pushing for more rendering at higher resolutions. Proper HDR and other such things I guess will be higher profile as they're buzz words.
New controllers because new and profits, hopefully without making them worse for newness. The VR controllers do need work to give you a thumb stick and tracking, maybe they'll try and do a switch-esk pull apart so you don't need completely different controllers for it.
Conversation went back to VR again. It's the only differentiator to MS who seem to be leaving such things to military/business applications only (unless it's all being hush hush on the consumer side as they're planning to go big bang on an Xbox launch?).
Who knows though?
It might be more than youd think. Even as a freelance journalist, I often had (physically) products months before release, and regularly had had access to developing products even in locked door labs, uo to 18 months before release. However, any such access was either under NDA or at least an honour commitment to say nothing, and I never did .... though at times it was hard keeping quiet on forums like this or OcUK in the face of much ill-informed speculation, especially when more accurate speculation was being put down or even ridiculed. But .... me letting the cat out of the bag would immeciately end any future privileged access, and I never did.
It's possible there are those even on this forum that could give a lot of information, but won't. I am not one of them. My contacts with Sony always were limited, and nowadays, zero.
Note: I was freelance but had very good connections. My bet is that such access was very unusual among freelancers.
One thing that would interest me is the rumoured backwards compatibility. As it's all on x86 architecture now, it's kind of a shoe-in that PS5 will play PS4 games, but there's a patent been lodged which might imply PS3, PS2 and even PS1 compatibility. I've still got a PS3, and a whole raft of games I've bought, but not played on it yet, so if I could get latest-gen and still be able to play those, that would be good. Plus SSX Tricky in 4k! In reality, I know I would barely even touch the old games, and would mainly concentrate on new games in my 2hrs a month gaming slot...
I believe dev kits have already been sent or at least similar spec'd pc's so teams get an idea of budgets. They'll definitely be using 7nm cpu/gpu so it's not a stretch that it'll be out by the end of the year or least announced.
Not sure about the PS5 but at least with the new Xbox console there will be a media drive in them and so right now I am all about getting MS's next new console if I get a new console at all.

Bunch of features confirmed.
Thanks for the info.
8K support? I guess for movies but whatever. LOL! Can we just get 60 FPS solid 4K gaming please?
I see that there will be discs but you know once again with them saying games will need to be installed and they are talking about an internal SSD eh this is going to be useless and so already add more cost once again for external hard drives and SSDs. I guess I could use what I have now but I already fill up 3 TB easy.
