    I thought this was mildly amusing if true, and yes 98 not NT

    From the sounds of it, it checks for Windows 98, but it doesn't specifically mean it was running on it.

    I'd imagine it's like a lot of programmes made over the years, where the original code ran on earlier versions and was kept in for backwards compatibility, just like how plenty of very rarely used functions still remain in Windows for the extremely low amount that may need them.

    Guess that means in theory these games could run on a PC?

    Nevermind, guess this is just for the multiplayer component of their games... reading the article, and a couple of other articles I saw on the subject.

    Yeah there is definitely a lot of mixed articles out there, probably a fair bit of Chinese whispers going on

    I'm guessing it's extremely virtualised at this point. Bunch of instances running on VMware racks.
