Sabrent NVME for PS5
I've got a Spare Sabrent Rocket 4.0 1TB drive, Will this work in the PS5 ?
I know that the Sabrent Rocket 4 PLUS model is compatible with the PS5. But just wondering if this Drive will work. Has anyone tried other mid-spec NVME drives in a PS5. (i know the WD 850, Samsung 980 Pro are what people tend to go for)

Re: Sabrent NVME for PS5
Seagate FireCuda 530 1TB Heatsink - Installed into PS5, all working. I did try the Sabrent 4.0 and the PS5 does pick it up and gives me a Speed test result of 5535 Mb

Re: Sabrent NVME for PS5
Thanks for the follow up. I've seen reports that slow drives don't seem to impact gameplay, just the time taken to copy a game from internal to SSD goes through the roof. But I've only seen PCIe Gen4 drives used, not seen anyone even try a Gen 3 drive like yours.

Re: Sabrent NVME for PS5
apologies That link went to the wrong drive. On Amazon its this one Sabrent 1TB Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 Internal SSD - Which is my spare Gen4 drive.
PS5 Does not support Gen 3 drives. Tried a Samsung SSD 970 EVO 500Gb Gen3 it failed.
"Cant use the M.2 SSD inserted in the expansion slot.
Use an M.2 SSD that meets these requirements:
PCIe Gen4 or later
Capacity of 250Gb min and 4TB max"
your right its just the time to copy data from internal onborad to nvme that you'll see a difference. In terms of gameplay maps or sections of a game load very quick. Installed 2 PS5 games on it all good
