    NEF files and CS2

    Hi all,

Having a pig of a time trying to get CS2 to open an NEF file.

Thought CS2 was meant to be an awesome all singing and dancing program. May end up going back to GIMP and getting my money back on CS2

I've seen plug ins fly around and have installed the Camera_Raw 3.1 plug in from Adobe - jack all that did. Helped me to see what were RAW files but still got a 'cannot open this file for x reason' error

Anyone shed some light or can someone point me to a plug in that works?

Cannot believe a freeware program like GIMP is making a mockery of CS2 !!

What error messages is it giving to you?

Have you downloaded the plug-in for your specific camera? I know I have to download a Nikon plug-in for PS.

Don't worry Nick - thanks for your time.

The problem was the tit who sold me CS2 - he said double click a plug in and it would install (well it half installs) I also needed to move it to the specified folder for it to fully work.

    Anger is slowly subsiding ...

still, i find cs2 to be ok for NEFs but nikon capture or rawshooter (now lightroom i think) to be better. the newest capture nx adds a whole new aspect of control points which give you heaps of control you didn't have before.

Lightroom is supposed to be awsome - the ability to use a clone tool on a RAW file has got to be cool

Get the latest updates for the Adobe Camera Raw.

From the minute I installed CS2, I have not had a problem open my NEF RAW files.

LR is good to a certain point, I think it tries to do too much at times but other than that its interface is slick and functional. I'm still between thinking but its mac cross-over ability is a good selling point to me. looking at getting a new MBpro when they come out...
