HEXUS Photo Challenge - Black & White **The Pictures**

Some really good pictures in for the challenge. Would be good for the next competition if we can get the number of pictures submitted to over 10.

The vote will stay open for 7 days from now so please cast your vote as to which picture best shows the use of black and white photography.

Had to go with 6, really great photo, was between that and 3... would be interesting to know where 3 was taken after voting has finished.

It's got good local contrast to balance out the overall contrast enhancement. B+W lives or dies by contrast.

I guess I have different tastes. I decided on 2, but liked 5 too, but would have gotten rid of the car on the left.

I like 5, looks like the Renault is getting ready to pounce (or overheat)

no major editing of photos is allowed..

altho' #4 is a good capture of emotion, its lacking in contrast

#1 does it for me, the eye is drawn towards the headlights of the taxi and then you see the atmosphere of the photo, a classic black and white

looks like #6 is gonna win, i do like the texture but not the composition

I should have phrased that differently. I meant that it should have been driven to behind the photographer.

Re: HEXUS Photo Challenge - Black & White **The Pictures**

I went for 1, very atmospheric, drawn to the lights. I was torn between this and 4, but decided that since 4 would look as good in B&W or colour, but 1 would lose something, I went for 1.

When will the next contest appear?

Re: HEXUS Photo Challenge - Black & White **The Pictures**

    No.1 for me.

Liked the clarity, contrast and composition of number 2 but not the content. And no.6 is technically a good black and white photo, but not great overall....perhaps as bobster says, something about the composition.

Think no.1 would have been even better with a nice border.
