    £300 - £500 5.1 speaker package

I'm pretty much decided on which new receiver I'm getting now along with a PS3 but I need some advice on speakers. At the moment I have a £100 5.1 setup with all four of the satellite speakers on stands.

I'm looking for a new set somewhere in the region of £300 - £500 which will improve my overall system.

    Anyone have any advice?

    wow thats a healthy budget.

my advice is to get an external amp and hi-fi spreakers. look at richer sounds and see what they have, cambridge audio do very decent amps azure 340 £150 + Kef KHT1005 £300 would be incredible for sound.

I'm either going to go for the Sony : STR-DG910 (STRDG910) : United Kingdom or the Onkyo-Now.co.uk : : Specialists in Onkyo's award winning Hifi and home theatre systems in terms of a receiver so speakers need to be able to match it

KEF KHT1005? £300, but you may need to add stands to that, at £30 per speaker....

hmm, not sure about the look of these speakers. I would prefer something more square and black

Those 2005's are an absolute bargain!

Also consider mordaunt short avant premieres and pros.

    Re: £300 - £500 5.1 speaker package

I was gonna recommend MS Premiere too, but the "square and black" bit doesn't really apply to them. It applies to their newer stablemates, the Alumni though.

If you're gonna do a bit of music listening as well as movies and games, I'd say something from MS's Avant 900i series might work well, although might be a teeny bit over budget.

902i fronts, 903i bipole surrounds, 905i centre, 908i sub. I'd wager that beat most contenders around the £500-£600 mark, but you may have to do a bit of shopping around to get the best prices on each of them unless you have an accomodating Richers nearby, who are willing to price match.
