one of the mods on www.avforums.com suggested that avforums might be arranging something involoving impoting SVS subs into the UK within the next few weeks.

    i'd temped by a :-

    http://www.svsubwoofers.com/subs_pcplus_20-39.htm

    or even a :-

    http://www.svsubwoofers.com/subs_pb2_plus.htm

    ( which someone reviewed here :- http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htfo...hreadid=146561

    6) Jurassic Park III (DTS) Master Volume -11

Talk about being right there in the Spino T-Rex fight! We cranked it as high as we dared and the PB2-Plus hung tough, dropping our jaws with tremendous power. Every stomp felt like getting hit in the chest with an 80 pound medicine ball.

    7) Star Wars Episode I: Phantom Menace (DD-EX) Master Volume 00

What HT sub demo is complete without the famous "pod race"? The canyon exits were spine shuddering, and the pod explosion felt like a cannon went off in the room.
    )

that's what i like to feeeeel when i first listened to full Meridian setup and Jurassic Park 2 was demo'd, the bass was absolutely awesome, wonder if i can beat it

i'd rather spend the extra money and have something really good that i could then put into my next set up too, if people are still suggesting the Servo 15 as one of the top mid-range subs, which is now 4 years old, i'm sure one of these things will last a few years too, until my next upgrade

Let me know what you decide!

I'm really proud of my DIY sub, it goes really low and kicks hard. Click the link in my sig, then click on the DIY sub link in that site to see a pic of it

hehe, cool, user satisfaction! looks like a giant candle to me i can see where your sig came from now, hehe.

i've been toying with the idea of getting a sub since i started planning my system about a year ago, in the end i kind of decided i'd save my money for something more housemate friendly, i guess this will be a test of whether i want more bass more than housemates that will talk to me

If you stick the sub in the corner it won't be too obtrusive.
Until you start turning up the volume...

But I have my setup in my bedroom so I don't need to make it "lounge-friendly" or anything

hehe, mine is in my own room too, they've got my piddly 14" sony tv downstairs with integrated speakers was more the noise, sometimes they get a little upset with my current system, as it makes every wall in the house vibrate, so adding a 900W Sub might just be pushing it

no where now. been doing the night shift at sainsburys for the last 5 weeks (summer hol job), just finished my last ever, and 7th consecutive, night (69 hour week)! It is the worst job i've ever had, and am more than considerably relieved that it's over. It didn't pay that bad for unskilled casual work i guess, i'll get ~£570 for the week just gone, but i never want to work there again.

Damn, that PB2-Plus sub is looking oh so tempting, i mean, what else could i get for £800? Off topic isn't important, bass is

Well think to yourself that all that hard work has earnt you enough money to buy a bitchin' subwoofer.

My brother has the MJ Acoustics Reference 1, and it truly is something else. On the site it claims to handle frequencies down to 10 Hz, which is probably designed to just vibrate the floor as humans can generally only hear down to 20Hz

I absolutely love bass too like you!

That SVS looks rather hefty. 900 Watts? Into two 12" drivers? That's absolutely ridiculous beyond belief!

http://www.mjacoustics.co.uk/mjacous...ducts/ref1.htm This is the one my brother has. It sounds awesome, I'll tell you that much.

Yeh, nutcase Americans from the review at http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htfo...hreadid=146561 :-
and is capable of true Dolby reference level playback in moderately sized HT rooms

if i lived somewhere where it wouldn't upset anyone else, then i'd have no hesitation in getting it, but as it is i'm still weighing up whether i'll get away with turning it up often enough to get £800 worth out of it.

That MJ looks pretty tasty too, and is about the same price as the SVS...

Indeed. You don't necessarily need them at reference levels to enjoy it.

Howard , whats the impedance of that Sub ? looks like a car one to me.

In which case I'm sure you could have a lot of fun with a JL dual voice coil setup as the ICE folks have been using a lot - this does presume you have an amp capable of driving such a low impedance ?
