A few questions

I know the title isn't very specific but I I couldn't think of anything to cover all things I want to ask :

I just bought a Samsung LE32A457 and now need an indoor ariel. It has freeview built in but I also want freesat, so will have to buy a box for that. I know freesat has HD channels subscription free, so I was thinking, if I buy just any ariel, will the quality be HD? I'm just thinking I don't want to have bought an HD ready tv, a freesat box with HD channels just to buy a cheap ariel that won't show them to their potential. Any suggestions of ariels? Also will the freesat box have an effect on the quality or can I just buy any? Sorry, like I said I'm quite clueless here.

Secondly, I was thinking of buying a freeview PVR to record freeview channels, but then if there's something on freesat, I won't be able to record it will I? I'd need a freeview PVR and a freesat PVR (which I know aren't available yet), wouldn't I? In which case I would be better just getting a DVD recorder and then I'd be able to record from both, yes?

Finally, if I want to connect my pc/laptop to the tv to play DVDs, what cable would I need? Just an HDMI cable? Or is that just for HD content?

There are only 2 HD freesat channels that I am aware of....and to receive freesat you require a satellite dish, not an aerial.

Using freeview, your channels will not be HD. There are no HD boxes or channels available yet (boxes exist for the old BBCHD test but they are rare and currently useless without freeview HD transmissions)

If you have a freesat PVR, then AFAIK, you won't need an aerial or a freeview PVR as freesat is the satellite equivielnt of freeview......all the freeview channels should be available on freesat.

Apparently there are some channels available on freeview which are unvailable on freesat, which is why I'll need an ariel, but thanks for letting me know about the need for a dish. The person who lived there before had sky and so has a dish as far as I'm aware. Would I be able to use that dish? I'm not sure how that works.

Bearing in mind that certain freeview channels aren't available on freesat, I'm right in thinking the only way to record both without buying 2 PVRs is to buy a DVD recorder, yes?

Sky dish should be ideal to plug into your freesat.

If some channels aren't available, then yes a freeview DVD-R is probably the easiest way to get both.

Not sure if you have an answer to this then, but I still don't know which indoor ariel to buy, I don't suppose you have any suggestions of good ones?

Or anybody else?
