I don't really think you can call any band the heaviest ever. I mean Crowbar are a very heavy band but only if you like that sort of music (slow heavy arse chords) Some people incuding myself like to go for the faster things in life like The Haunted, Arch Enemy and At The Gates, these bands don't have the heavy chords but they do have the awesome speed and gut wrenching vocals that make then just as heavy.

To be honest, the only thing that I might find slightly scary about Burzum is their racial views. Other than that, they're a good band with some good songs.

If you want something similar, but not quite so hard, try Darkthrone, Khold or maybe even some of Satyricons stuff (Dark Medieval Times or Volcano).

Depends on sub-genres... there are different kinds of heaviest, if you want to be thorough... grindcore, black metal, noisecore, screamo, hardcore. Those are the heaviest sub-genres of metal I can think of. Then you've got sub-genres of those sub-genres. Heavy is such a non-specific word

anything quicker and louder than burzum basically, will have a look at those bands, so far my search has turned up mehshuggah and dying fetus who do a pretty good job against them but don't quite get it imo

Argh! I keep opening windows explorer so I can look for tracks to recommend for you. I ripped my whole cd and dvd collection onto my hard drives. Took up 220Gb worth of 2x120Gb Maxtors it did!

Bloody well deleted EVERYTHING today after I thought it would be clever to put them both in RAID 0. Duh.

Yeah, I got to see them at Reading last year.. which was nice, as I still haven't had a chance to see them in a venue anywhere.
