Well I took delivery of some lovely new cute little Monitor Audio Bronze B2 speakers (see here) and they are a huge improvement over the very cheap but fairly good JPW floorstanders I had before! I love these new babies!

So what home cinema setup do you guys posess? List your equipment and post comments on others' in here

last may(2002) i bought a goodmans(iknow lol) 32" widescreen with dvd and 2 tall speaker things with dolby and cinema sound my wife thinks theyre great but with me being deaf it doesnt really make much difference great picture on the tv the dvd has been multi regioned as well that plays quite well
id rather spend my money on pc kit as thats where i do all my main watching of stuff
its a goodmans matrix bass enhanced home cinema system lol

I didnt realise you were deaf crapshot, must make some games hard as they dont always have subtitles?

i wear hearing aids which help me "hear" just nhs ones but its better than nothing its hard distinguishing sounds cos of the poor quality aids i cant tell when people are creeping up on me etc...
doesnt stop me enjoying games tho
my kids scare the sh*t out of me all the time sneeking up and boo!!! some day i will get those siemens earpieces lol

At the mo, just a £50 Ronin DVD player from SVP which has worked VERY well considering its price.

28" Goodmans TV and Analouge phono 5.1 AMP + surround speakers, of which we only use the centre and 2 side ones cause of lack of space, plus im the only one who uses it cause noone else in the house understands how to use it even though its blindingly simple.

Not the best setup, but its better than a 17" TFT and headphones on my PC

When i leave uni and get a job im gonna get a proper setup, possibly a projector or plasma since TV's ultra high frequency whines really annoy me at times

I've got a 21" Mitsubishi TV which I hope to replace with a 28" soon (freebie with a work order)

Sony 5 Disk DVD
Wharfedale Amp
2 x Jamo 50W floor speakers

And it does fine for me

Not really a great home cinema setup here but then again I manly watch series's of stuff so it dont matter that much to me.

NAD Amp (can't remember model and can't be arsed to go down stairs and look)

Hopefully i'll be getting rid of the DVD and CD player soon, and replace it with a quality DVD player with good CD playback. And i got to upgrade my Sky to Sky+ so i can get 5.1 film broadcasts, i don't know whether they broadcast 6.1 as well if it's available?

damn, you've got me looking at getting a REL Quake sub again!

Hmmmm.........setups...make me get all "electrical"

Loewe TV.....32" Xelos and its NOT totally flat, and I love it cos of that

It does a passable virtual surround, but not great.

soooooo, I have....

Videologic Digitheatre DTS which is just like every reviewever said about it: Awesome in films, top quality for the size and money, awesome bass, fantastic satellites, BUT crap centre channel. And it doesmusic OK-ish.....its subtle, and it suits my room 100%

3yr Old Pioneer DVD player, which I still aint changed cos it does lots already..but its next on the list.

On the PC I have an Audigy Sound Card, a Kenwood 6channel input amp (base model, good value) and Eltax Hollywood 5 speaker package. Its OK

It's not as bad for gaming as i thought when you first said it, with your little monsters scaring you it sounds like you need the siemens a.s.a.p. before you need a pacemaker!!

like which? i have to say i haven't looked at subs at all in the last 6 months but the sub market doesn't exactly move very fast!

Take a look at www.avforums.com there are many experts there to assist in purchasing anything to do with home cinema.

thanks Howard, is hard when everyone raves about their own system to really compare things though, a lot of people seem to be suggesting a Paradigm Servo 15, but as it came out 4 years ago, i haven't found any recent reviews of it so it can be compared to todays newest subs.

The Paradigm Servo 15 is a well regarded sub IIRC.

thanks howard, i found the last 2 before, but as i said i'm a little wary of consumer reviews, because they tend to be rather biased, and that soundtage review is from '99, as most of them are. NZ one i not seen before though, and is recent, so that's great, apparently they sell it at richer sounds for ~£500 (though it's not shown on their website), it's more expensive than the Quake at £320 but i might pop down to Richer Sounds and see if they've got one i can have a listen to, i have to admit, it does look very meaty, and as you might be able to tell from my setup already, i am a little bit of a bass junkie

if £500 dissapears from my account and my house crumbles i know who to blame
