If i bought seperates then DAB would be high on my list...don't want to be buying out-of date technology. It looks like Tuners with DAB are not to much of a hefty price anyway...so i'll be hopeful of picking one up.
i wouldnt call dab out of date myself, its gonna be the main broadcast format for the next 30 odd years..
anyways, that teac thing has it built in, so would look tidier than the denon one.. that was my only point..
No no :) I meant DAB is what i would be looking for on a tuner. I have just re-read my post, could be a little confusing, apologies.Quote:

there ya go. pics will be on other teac stuff that place sells. bit more pricey thou - maybe you could run it with your existing speakers till you've got enough cash to afford some new ones??
To be honest, the limit on price is not an issue. I will spend as much as i need to get the system i want - I'll be working full time over the summer for 3 months and this is the main thing i am buying. [Currently at UNI] I am budgeting about £1000 in total to do stuff to my room, so if the system eats more of the budget...then it eats more of the budget :) But the reason i capped it off at £400 is because i didn't want ne1 getting silly with the ideas ;) :pQuote:

Although heading down to richer and spending like £150 on a whole setup maybe enough for you - in order to decide this you need to hear lots of systems.
So listening really is crucial then? Even if it is a tad embarassing asking a shop to stick a CD on for you  Are you sure they won't mind?Quote:

Listening is the only thing that matters boyo!Quote:

Best thing to do is to make up a CD with your favourite songs on, and listen to that CD on all the kit your interested in.
Personally, i find Sevenoaks Hifi to be the best i bought my last system from them after much playing of CD's and swapping components around, Audio Excellence are ok but the staff round here are not so friendly, Richer Sounds are just box pushers really though i have heard good reports on customer service so could be worth a look.

i'd disagree with the 'making a cd up' point cos a burnt cd wont normally read as well as a proper cd, due to bit errors etc..
bigger richer sounds do have listening rooms but they dont sell those systems - think sevenoaks might..
True, but you'd need a £3000 odd system to actually be able to notice the difference.
As we are talking more of £300 here, thats a bit of a moot point.

At least then you will know for certain that your expensive new kit plays cdr's :)Quote:
