After blasting Johnny b goode for the last few days since watching back to the future i started thinking about just how much brilliant music there is in films, just some of the best tracks that spring to mind atm are -

Danger Zone - Kenny Loggins (top gun)
Tears for fears - mad world (donnie darko)
wake up - rage against the machine (the matrix)
queen - bohemian rhapsody (waynes world)
slayer - bloodline (dracula)
George Baker - little green bag (resevoir dogs)

The way they've implemented the music and flight scenes in Top Gun is nothing short of fantastic in my opinion. I MUST pick up the DVD.

I have it on VHS and the jets whooshing everywhere give me a rush... LOL... So I dread to think what a DTS DVD will be like

I don't think there is a DTS version of it available atm it's just Dolby Digital however there are rumours that it may be relaunched at the end of the year

I think the intro to Top Gun is an absolute cinematic masterpiece, easily the best cinematic intro to a film ever IMO

And "The Lost Boys" Soundtrack album is really good.

Pretty much anything with tarantino in it/directing it has an awesome soundtrack tbh he uses music in films so well it hurts

In total agreement with you on this one Knox - Tarantino knows how to put the coolest music into his films!

Agree with the Top Gun soundtrack, obviously being a girl I cant live without the Dirty Dancing soundtrack!! (Sorry!)

Yeah, it is great, but my all time favourite intro has to be Strictly Ballroom. The first few minutes of that are just brilliant. The way the interviews are cross cut with the dancing and the music is utterly superb.

Having said that, Top Gun could well be second. I sat down with my headphones on last night to watch the into and ended up watching the whole film. I've been meaning to get the DVD for ages too, although annoyingly Play seem to keep putting the price up. Between us, my wife and I have the soundtrack on tape, vinyl and CD.

My favourite film sountracks tend to invole either Giorgio Moroder or Harold Faltermeyer, or as in Top Gun, both. You've got to love the soundtracks to American Gigolo, Beverly Hills Cop, Flashdance etc.

The soundtrack to 28 days later is brilliant, grandaddy - AM 180 and Blue States - Season Song, especially so

I like the OST to Queen Of The Damned especially the original songs made for the film.

Highlander - Queen.

You may not like Queen but that is one of the best sound tracks for a film ever.
