these boys are good
http://www.7dayshop.com/
I've had their rechargeable batteries (via Amazon) and they rock
they do a good charger for £4
their batteries are astonishing, and the value is awesome. Buy in bulk,... it's worth it and they come in battery cases too.
BUT,... be aware: the 2500mah and above that they specialise in are FAT... for extra capacity and DONT fit some narrow torches etc.
I've got 4 in my digi camera and they last really well, they don't fade, they stay at top volts until they're dead. The charger is good.
I'd advise anyone looking to grab a set of rechargeable AA's to go 7day shop.

For chargers, the Technoline BL700 from www.batterylogic.co.uk.
For batteries, Sanyo Eneloop, Uniross Hybrio, or other low self discharge cell. 7 day shop do their own brand of low self discharge cells ("good to go"). They may not have the same advertised capacity as some 'normal' cells, but the lower self discharge capacity means that they tend to out-perform them in most applications.. They also arrive pre-charged!

I use a Technoline BC1000. The link is in peterb's post.
you've sold me Zak
I was going to go with this charger though

I thought the same about the BL700, until I bought one!. However, the one you linked to looks pretty good.
I would strongly recommend the low self discharge batteries though. I use them in applications where I would never have used re-chargeables before, torches, flashguns (that might be used often, but have to work when they are needed) and even things like TV remotes.

alright, I just hope their compatible with my wee £10 charger.
Now I need to find a Remote Control Mains Socket Set .
This seems to be popular ,and it looks like German brand, what do you think ?

I have used X10 modules from www.letsautomate.com successfully.
X10 is a recognised standard for home automation products and transmits the control data through the house wiring.
However, the units your refer to have OK reviews, but they are not something I have first hand knowledge of.

^^ have to agree with the BL700, great charger, also revives what seem to be dead cells, one thing i can and will bitch about, it cannot detect a totally discharged battery so keep an old basic charger handy if you want to try and revive a totally dead cell. 5 mins in a "thick" charger to get a few mv in there and throw into the BL700 and it will refresh it
I also have a stash of sanyo eneloops, the standard ones and the XXX 2500ma versions for my flash unit. 10/10
Capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack
off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse.
Another vote for Technoline. The 1000, if you need the cell converters or higher charge rate, but if you don't, the 700 is superb .... and in terms of charger design and spec, almost identical to the 1000.
