Has anyone else got this?
I'm listening to it now and I have to admit its rather damn good. :devilish:
It's that nice blend of typical Prodigy big beats and guitar rips that make a nice change from all the stuff thats around but different enough from the last album to make it worth a listen. But it is more punk than funk this time so I'm not sure whether it will be to everyones liking though.

I was listening to this yesterday and it didn't seem that great, maybe I should give it another go? I normally like Prodigy stuff so I guess I just need to listen a few more times.

much prefer the old stuff and this just isn't as good as I'd hoped, shame really tbh as I used to really enjoy they're stuff
I'll agree with Knox there, their older stuff has churned out a few "classics", none of the tracks on this album jump out as candidates to reach that kind of status.
But we've moved on 5 years now I suppose. Still, I'll give it a few more listens.
Agree'd If they play smack my b!tch up in a club I'm gonna go dance (well, attempt to anyway ;)) If I hear memphis bells I'm gonna stay in my stationary position propping up the bar tbh.......
I like the album. I think it's quite strong, but they are never going to beat Fat of the Land for songs.
I think I 'really' like about 3 of the tracks, but the others are 'mediocre'. But you never know, music style may change and these songs could shape the future style(s) of music.
No.2 Girls - Sounds like something out of Buck Rodgers.
No.11 The Way it is - Sound like Wacko 'Would you like to see some Puppies' Jacksons' Thriller.
Apart from that I'm generally happy :)

I really like it and I'm glad that it isn't Fat of the Land Mk. II.
At first I wasn't too sure, but I like it more with every listen. It certainly helps if you play it through a decent pair of (floor-standing) speakers though - there's quite a lot going on at the lower frequencies. :)
I've had to listen to it a few times, but I am really starting to like it
especially 'You'll Be Under My Wheels' (from the BMW 1 series comercial)
It's a sample from Thriller, from the middle eight, if you listen carefully it's two bars looped and on the second bar you can hear the werewolf howl over it....Quote:

All in all I think it's a very good album - and it's getting a generally good reception in most camps - but surprisingly well in the Dance camp, surprising when you consider how heavy some of it is :) It's not got the "song" style of Fat Of The Land, but equally I can see where Liam's coming from with going "Back to the beats" like Experience and Jlited... FOTL was good but could see them drifting a bit too charty if they carried on that route !
Ive not heard the album for a while (should dig it out) but I really liked it - I like you will be under my wheels, and the last track :) Like most bands, they have evolved and there style has developed (and technology has moved on since when they did FOTL).
I have to admit the more I listen to it the more I seem to be liking it, even the few tracks I didnt like to begin with are growing on me.
i thought it was pretty average, if you seach around you should already be able to find a bootleg remix of this album, not bad
I like it, but I am a Prodigy nut. It certainly seems to have an aviation theme from the titles. I think 'Girls' is quite a grower. Still, I think 'Music For The Jilted Generation' is their best album. Can't beat 'Poison' and 'No Good' :).
It's not as good as their previous stuff but I like it. It's a lot more diverse... Lots of different themes going on!
And it's excellent for pushing a hifi/sound system to it's limits :D I had to lower the volume of my sub a fair bit so it didn't sound overblown! The bass really does kick as much as Fat Of The Land :)
Its not a bad album but there is one major problem with this CD from the get go, there is no Keith or Maxim and you can tell its struggling without them.
Traditionally, Prodigy songs haven't featured Keith or Maxim. It was only really Fat of the Land that they appeared on. Originally Maxim was their live MC and Keith was just a dancer!Quote:

originally yes, but on the jiltered generation and experience they were in there quite a bit, but after listening to maxims dirt chamber sessions then this, dirt chamber is the better of the two. Don't get me wrong its a good album but not as good as previous outings.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Dirt Chamber Sessions is a mix CD...whereas this is an album.....

Prodigys best tunes werent on any albums eg. we eat rythm and rythm of life
also the prodigy rox for live performances and now thats gone because they have no dancers and no mc. As soon as the commercialites get bored liam is gonna be in a world of ****e

Keith and Maxim don't appear on the album for whatever reason, but they'll still do the vocals live.
Yeah and from what ive heard keith is gonna do some kind of stuff on his own in future. Which can only be good really as he was punkin the band anyway.
Well, I love the album. Listened to it about 10 times over this weekend and still can't get enough! :D
Could've been so much better - the songs don't have enough variety in them... after a minute you've heard all you're going to hear. Spitfire is crackin' tho.

This is a truly great album, it lives up to their past album "fat of the land" and a wee bit more, only just got it and listening to track 2 'girls' cracking album! more technoy than i woulldve thought it would eb from them but still class
the dirtchamber sessions still in my multi cd player. possibly the best mix album. Liam should have done a follow up. this was Liams chioce of choons, i think 'smack my bitch up' came from one of these samples .. as a follow on, Fatboy Slims, On the Dancefloor at the Boutique' was possibly made as a follow on, if you heard one, try the other !!

the 2nd track is very hiphop 87-88 era and you could hardly tell it from an original track from that generation. :rockon:
it might loose direction mid way though but it comes back strongly at the end, though i dont like the M,Jackson sampled tune near the end ..
personally i think this is the nuts, there is other good stuff around but thats no need to slate this exellent effort!

As a note - the Dirtchamber Sessions Part 1 was indeed a mix by Liam Howlett... it came about because he was invited to put together a mix for Mary Anne Hobbs on the Breeze Block show on Radio1. It was a feature she did once a week where she invited a famous music personality (or duo) to prepare a mix of the music that influenced them. She didn't care if they could mix or not (memories of Beth Orton's 1 hour mix :) ) and didn't care if the tunes were (ever) popular.
Liam prepared his mix before hand (as a few did to save blushes) but his excuse was that he would need help to bring all the records in, and that he used three decks :rockon:
The mix was such a success he decided to release it, but had to change about 8-10 tracks for licencing (e.g the opening track was The Beatles with Sgt Peppers over a Breakbeat) Still have a copy on MD somewhere - must dig it out and copy it to CD :)
The new Prodigy album is good, just not brilliant, like the new Faithless album, all very very good tracks, but nothing that stirs your soul... Girls is my fav :cool:
