    Android as Universal Remote

Toying with the idea of buying a universal remote for AV in the front room to control Panasonic plasma, Onkyo reciever, Win 7 HTPC running XBMC, PS3 for blu-rays.

As android tablets are dropping in price, anyone know of software that will run macros to change channels and inputs similar to a Logitech Harmony 1100?

HTPC and PS3 can be controlled through LAN/wireless and bluetooth, but the TV and reciever with need some means of IR control.

Will this mean I need to buy a Nexus for NFC, or are there any other options?

    Re: Android as Universal Remote

my note 10.1 has IR and a built in shabby app to control stuff. other apps are about that do a better job.

i have a harmony one so i use that instead tbh.

For macros.. it seems like the kinda thing that Tasker would be designed for. You can make custom interfaces, with buttons that trigger specific things... possibly worth looking into? Not sure.

If you don't get one with IR built in (makes sense to, I suppose), there's always this kinda thing? http://www.irdroid.com/ I can't vouch for it though ...

Unified Remote Is great for Windows PCs, if that helps at all.
