    Faults with Samsung RC21 fridge

I have a Sammy fridge which is out of the 5 year warranty. Recently we could hear a loud fan-like noise which I fixed by removing some panels and defrosting the motor.
However, now there's a new noise and the fridge - although set to 3C- is at around 12C which isn't good.

Anyone know anything else on this or how to fix it?

This is a very common fault with Samsung fridges. I had this problem recently - even though I was out of the two year warranty on mine, Samsung did fix it for free (twice within 6 months).

I don't think you'll have much success trying to get them to repair it for free after 5 years (they'll put it down to wear and tear) but give them a ring and explain the issue. They were very good with us.

That's for two specific models, I'm assuming the problem is similar as the symptoms are the same. Fridges are quite simple devices so it's normally easy to find the issue.

with that temp and you saying you defrosted motor i'd say it's leaking gas .. try calling them .. or your local frezzer repair .. regasing should be around £40 only takes 20 mins ..

Used that link to find some numbers and addresses.. Just wondering if you think it'd be more effective contacting them by phone rather than mail? I see no email address either

Not trying to hijack the thread but this is interesting to me, my mum the RS21 and it's been acting up for years. Wonder if they'll fix it for free...

Turns out she knew about this, Samsung said they won't fix it cause it's over 5 years old, she doesn't even have the receipt.

I can't remember the model, but we have one of those Samsung American-style fridge freezers.

Ours started to get very loud on occasion (when the fan kicked in) - I removed the rear panel and found it was the fan housing that was vibrating. I cut a small piece of packaging foam and wedged it it there - it's been behaving perfectly for almost a year now.

From the outside back of the fridge? I may have to try that out
