Re: is putting a mini fridge in my wardrobe safe?

IIRC, it is conventional (phase change).

Phase change fridges come in two flavours, Normally they use a compressor (and I think the one you refer to does) so they are noisier than a TEC (which are usually silent, although some have a fan on the heat sink on the back)

The other form of phase change is an absorption fridge which uses a heat source (other than the cavity) to vaporise the working fluid. They are silent, and are often used in caravans because some use propane as the power source.

Does cooling performance vary much between the two? if tec is far more superior could you recommend any around the size of my current one?

Re: is putting a mini fridge in my wardrobe safe?

TEC is efficient, but the actual cooling capacity is low. They are used in the small drinks fridges (that cool a couple of cans) and in coolboxes.

Of the phase change fridges, compression fridges are more efficient. (But are the noisiest)

    More info here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absorption_refrigerator

This site http://www.minicoolers.co.uk/products/comparison.htm has a variety of small fridges which may provide info. It is not a company I have used myself, so I cannot recommend it based on personal experience.

Looks like a good idea. But I am still pretty certain that the heat generation will be an issue.
