Sounds like a pair of studio monitors are right up your alley, the Edifier R1900's are pretty badass and can be had for £80, so right on your budget, too.
I would recommend the microlab solo6c, will blow away the likes of Creative T20 and T40

Agreed, just pointing it out though - according to the pdf datasheet it is indeed included.
Some other comparison:
Size Solo6c 210x361x270mm to the T40's 88.0 x 143.0 x 313.0 mm
PowerT40s have 16w + 16w RMS. And they can go LOUD believe me.
The solo6c have 50w+50w RMS so will theoretically go louder, and with larger speakers will move more air in doing so. Just consider if you need them to...
It would be interesting to set them up side by side and see which gives the clearer sound. I imagine the multi-speaker T40s will do better at lower volumes. It will be interesting to see how the solo6c's fair at higher volumes too - whether the distortion starts creeping in, since so much frequency range is dealt with by just one speaker cone.
Don't suppose Hexus fancy a lab-test? Or someone want to lend me a pair of the Solo's and I'll happily do one
My T20 Series II are plenty loud enough for me when i use them. I also have neighbours to think about and if i want to pound my eardrums then i use a decent set of cans (i have a budget pair of Samson SR850s and a relatively high end pair of Sennheiser HD600s to play with ). I personally don't see the point in getting stupidly loud (and big) speakers for a PC when you're going to be sat near them anyway, and they're nowhere near as immersive as a quality set of headphones .
