If I was a virgin member, Can I use the existing satellite dish and the cable?
Virgin dont use sat dishes, they use cable, if you are a Virgin customer you should get freeview or their equivalent for free. They will give you a box with a card and that will be reg'd to your account so if you have a Virgin box you acquired from somewhere else it will not work.
If you are not a Virgin customer but have a satellite feed and dont want to go subbed then Id recommend getting freesat as they have a few more channels.
You shouldn't actually be in possession of a V+ box unless you're a Virgin Media subscriber TBH; they remain VM's property, and they should take them back if you cancel your contract.
The card will also have been deactivated if your subscription is cancelled, so you can no longer decode the encrypted channels even if VM happen to leave your drop connected in the cabinet.
The box is designed solely for use on VM's cable network, it's not suitable for anything else.
Right I can't use this thing then, Another question is I see a HDD inside so this is must be a recordable one right ?
How do I know how big is it of this HDD?
It's usually a WD 160GB SATA drive, a consumer-electronics aimed version IIRC. But again, you shouldn't really be in possession of such a device without a VM subscription as it's purely on loan to you under the terms of the subscription; you don't own it like, AFAIK, you do with a Sky box.
