speaker system help

I recently bought my first receiver which is a teac agd 200 and im currently looking for good speakers for it. A friend of a friend is offering his boston acoustics xs 5.1 in good condition for about 100 quid and Im wondering if i should go for it? Im replacing my z906(it was okay but wanted something with more flexibility). I am a student on a budget so im looking for a high bang for buck ratio in a relatively small form(my room is tiny). Is there anything else that can be recommended or should i go for that?

Ohh and i forgot to mention that i have a soundblaster z and don't know how everything is going to work(do i still need that?)
