4k uhd tv

so does this thing need a upgrade to be 4k??

Not from my reading of it. Upgrades will be needed as new 4k TV codecs are required. From what I can see it supports the latest available today including those required by Netflix.

so it does not have hdmi 2.0 then and will need an upgrade for 4k

i want to use it as my pc monitor @3840 x 2160

Where does it say that? LGs website says it does. This is software upgrades that are being talked about not hardware.

so as long as my gfx card will do 3840x2160 and a hdmi 2.0 cable it should work then.

Does your graphics card have an HDMI 2 port? If not it won't do 4k at 60hz, just 30hz. Displayport is apparently the way to go but not sure if the TV (or your graphics card) has this.

i have a ati 5850 and a 4350 atm, just put a pic in the work space section was looking to upgrade anyway or would the 5850 do that res ?

will need a new card 5850 will not go high enough

It'll likely do the resolution just not at 60hz. Definitely no games.

If you're planning an upgrade then wait till HDMI2 capable cards are available.

i thought they had it allready lol so these gfx cards that say are 4k ready will need a firmware update for the hdmi 2.0 standard then

Nope. HDMI2 is a hardware standard.

The latest generation of cards will do 4K@60Hz through Displayport, but only at 30Hz through HDMI.

For TV etc it should be fine, but I've heard that even for desktop work it can be a pain.

my eyefinity setup is 5760x1200 never had a problem with it

i take it there is no display port to hdmi 2.0 converter?
