    Hi,

I am looking for sound bar recommendations budget of around £250. I have found one below and was wondering if anyone can advise if they have it and if so what are there experiences like? Or could they recommend an alternative?

are you desparate for a bar? A set of full range and an amp could be had for much less. I'd put money on most half decent active monitors sounding better than the soundbars I've heard to be honest.

This Yamaha get's a good review here, & is available at £299:

herulach is right though, you could get active speakers or even a separate amp & speakers for that price. Of course a lot of soundbars have extra features like bluetooth, DLNA, etc.

I'd be a little cautious about claims that a soundbar can truly replicate the audio experience of a 5.1 surround system though. From what I've read in reviews, even the more expensive units which use clever DSP technology, tend to fall some way short. Definitely a good idea to go & listen to one before buying, if you can.

    Re: Sound Bar Recommendations

I've been reading soundbar reviews and generally they suggest that you are looking at sound quality better than TV sound.
The 5.1 Panasonic I setup at my partners home has the option to make the rear speakers wireless - with the bonus (?) ability to go 7.1.
Not sure what to do for myself - I'll probably compromise and go for portability, rather than quality
If you just look at soundbar on Amazon there are a number of well received products - none as much as £250 - doesn't make sense to me to pay a premium for a fidelity compromise

    Re: Sound Bar Recommendations

    Hi,

    Thanks for the responses,

JL have advised me that the initial sound bar I asked about is now no longer stocked by them.

I am looking at a sound bar due to having lack of space for placing different speakers around the room.

The Yamaha sound bar looks good, I am also considering the following sound bars:

I've got the Yamaha YAS-101, I highly recommend it.
A really rich sound to complement blu-ray quality videos.
