Out of those two, definately the LG as it has lower response times (16ms compared to 20ms) and a higher contrast ratio (450:1 compared to 430:1).
You might also want to consider this NEC/Mitsubishi one. It's supposed to be good too.
I've found the Hercules DVI version for £285,95 exc VAT......
It seems to be £450+ everywhere else......

I personally think the LG monitor looks rather tacky
The hercules one is sposed to be quite good (the LG is a good performer - just looks tacky, and is rather bulky)

A few things to consider:
Will you goto LANS or take the screen anywere? If so....read on.
I got my NEC 15" job mainly cos it had a USB Hub in the base....and frankly that alone made it worth owning....its SO much easier to unplug the joystick/camera/USB Hardrive etc ona 4 port hub in the base of the screen...
HOWEVER.....what I found even BETTER was the built in speakers
Yeah...they're pants quality BUT they are acceptable at a LAN party, and cos they have a lead from the sound card to your monitor AND THEN A HAEDPHONE PLUG in the screen its virtually perfect.
So in one hit, I sussed the USB port shortage/convenience, the portability (no more 4 ton big screens ) the speakers at LANS, AND the desktop space..PLUS Headphone plug.
Hope it helps

I have been looking into getting some Creative I-Trigue speakers, so the speakers in the monitor wont be that neccessary....
Anyone got any links for the hitachi monitors?
Nick
got my 17" NEC 1760NX, and I gotta say its the best purchase i have EVER made. I cant even look at my old monitor anymore (generic 17" CRT), as it is so fuzzy, dull, and small. The other great thing about this monitor is that I can stick my Two fat Mordaunt-Short speakers right next to it, and it wont make this one go purple
I personally believe that the mouse/keyboard/monitor are the most importan parts of a PC, as they are what you interact with all the time. The other advantage is that they dont need upgrading as often as the internals, so its worth spending a bit more to get something proper bo (sorry just watched the entire first series of Bo Selecta in one sitting)
Just my opinion tho
Just bought myself a Samsung 172v 17" TFT and got to say I'm well impressed.
Pretty basic spec i.e. no USB's and built in speakers etc but WOW what a picture. Makes my old NEC look like a brick.
£330 from Staples.
Happy hunting
that's £339.99 inc postage.. good price.. but have to be sure it's the one with DVI!Originally posted by Lead_Head
