New TV setup

Hi All,
Most of my TV/AV kit is getting on a bit, and I'm considering an upgrade. I figure 65" seems the sweet spot for performance before it starts getting stupid. I've got an alcove in my living room that's ~ 220cm wide by 235cm wide and I've knocked this up as a potential setup.



The unit at the bottom is a wooden cupboard/set of drawers, and I'll probably rest the centre speaker on it, and mount the left and right speakers on the sides of the alcove, so none of the speakers are actually attached directly to a wall we share with our neighbours.

I plan on running cabling between the TV and amp and speakers in D-Line which will be painted.

Anything obviously stupidly wrong?

Only thing I'd say is based on the dimensions and unit the TV looks like it'd be a little high?

Definitely lower the tv, ideal eyeline height is the height when you're sitting down, loose or lower the unit if you can.

yeah, unless you have reclining chairs with neck support you'll find the height painful - though it depends in part how far away you're sitting too.

Also possible minor typo, should your post say 220wide x 235 high? (Changes how I (mis)read the drawing)

Also check your remote vs relative height of unit. Some units detect better below the remote, others are less fussy. (the emitter tends to be on the underside of the remote so not always as good at beaming upwards to the main unit as beaming down to a unit at a lower level)

You want your eye-line to be in the top portion of the screen, so as others have said, lower it down.

It's also worth noting with speakers, don't push them up against walls. For the best sound they need to be brought a foot or two away from the wall. The centre speaker needs room to work and being cramped up against other things can ruin clarity of speech.

remember to put resilient isolation mounts on any wall brackets so you don't push vibrations into your walls. Flanking sound transmission is a PITA for your neighbours and other rooms in your own house.
