Motorised TV lifts and TV wall mounts for BIG TV's (65inch +)

Does anyone have any experience of TV lifts? as the TV I need to get for work is for Video conferencing and presenting we would like it to be able to move up and down. We cant use the arm type which you pull down and that stick up.

Most say up to a certain size say 55 inch but state a much heavier weight which even 80 inch TV's are not. Can you generally attach them and its not so much the size but the weight?

If we cant get one of those at a reasonable price what about the usual wall mounts? it it the weight only or the attachment is different for massive TV's

    Any recommendations?

Aheavier TV will need a stronger mount to prevent flexing, and if it is motorised, the motor and drive train need to be sto get enough and powerful enough for the weight.

The ultimate limit is the strength of the wall you are fixing it to. Once in place it is the friction between the wall and the mount that holds it in place, the securing bolts need to be strong enough to hold the mounting plate tight enough. There may also be a turning moment on the upper bolts, tending to pull them out, so that needs to be considered too. If the wall is brick or concrete block, you should be OK. Light weight block less so, and drylined you need to be very careful and may need to drill into the supporting wall, but that risks damaging any semi-permeable membrane that might be there.

If it's a commercial building, you may need to check the plans.

    Thanks for replying.

I am wondering about size limit they state. Often they say for example up to 55 inch but the weight limit is far more than the weight of a 55 inch tv.
Do the big 65 + inchers have a different fitting?

If the fitting is the same and the lift is rated to 100kg you would think it would be okay.

The fitting is usually VESA specified, but the spacing may vary as the screen size increases.

But if the weight is below the maximum for the bracket/lift, you should be OK.
