Denon AVR-7200WA or Yamaha RX-A3050
Yet another thread lol.
Hi folks, as you know, I'm Upgrading to an Atmos setup of 5.1.4 with my Monitor Audio RX Silver 5.0 setup, xtz sub and 4 ceiling monitor audio 265 or 265 idcs.
Looking to upgrade my amplifier and aiming for refurbished or second hand at around 1000-1200 quid. Both these amps have came up for this price.
Which one would be best in terms of the future and now as well as the sound quality?
Any others can be had for this price worth looking at?
Thanks for your help. It is all appreciated.
Re: Denon AVR-7200WA or Yamaha RX-A3050
I have the denon 2200 setup in atmos. 5.1.2
the atmos .2 speakers are actually just normal speakers mounted next to the ceiling and angled downwards.
and it sounds glorious. :d
doesn't get hot after 3 hours use, audio mode switching is very quick (between dts/dolby/stereo modes), had a few firmware and feature updates in the last year.
did have a nad t761 but that stopped outputting audio via the terminals (known fault affecting pretty much all of them)
mates also got a stereo denon amp that he fished out of a skip. replaced a blown fuse and its been dandy for past 6 years.
so I would go denon. but have a look at http://www.richersounds.com/product/...o-avrx4300-blk first. on sale £500 off for £799 for 5.2.4 atmos.
Re: Denon AVR-7200WA or Yamaha RX-A3050
I think both those amps are 2016 models, so both will probably be on an equal footing in terms of futureproofing. Both seems to be HDMI 2.0a, so they'll both do HDR.
I guess it comes down to personal taste. I would listen to both through the same set of speakers if possible, then decide.
Alternatives? Onkyo? Marantz?
Re: Denon AVR-7200WA or Yamaha RX-A3050
I'm leaning towards the Yamaha purely because I have one at the moment and love it.
I've HD an only in the past but found it was always roasting which I'm not a fan of.

Mearly based on personal experience, I find the Yamaha kit considerably better made then Denon
Re: Denon AVR-7200WA or Yamaha RX-A3050
I had an Onkyo previously as well, and it did keep the house warm. What I did like was the remote, it was a learning one, when I got my Yamaha, I was disappointed that the remote wouldn't work any other devices. It's not that important any more, cos the remote for my telly is multi-function, plus I've got a Harmony. Saying that, I can't fault the Yamaha, it's even survived having a Christmassy snow-globe smash on it. It just went into recovery mode, then started working again once it had dried out.
Re: Denon AVR-7200WA or Yamaha RX-A3050
Well I have changed slightly. Richer sounds are offering the Denon X6300H, HIOS 1 speaker and 4 Monitor Audio CT265-IDC speakers + 6 year supercare warranty for £1799.
This seems like an excellent deal so I'm going to order today.
Any speaker cable recommendations for the ceiling speakers? I use QED Silver Anniversary xt for the rest but don't have the money for that!
