    Re: Quadcopter anyone own one?

Just returned to Hexus after quite a few years of absence - I can't access my old forum account, so I'm starting anew. RC Flying and multirotors/quadcopters took priority in my hobbylife about 5 years ago. I have a youtube channel ( Quad Damage FPV ) charting my progress through the years - currently flying long range FPV with fixed wing and 7inch quads. Just in case - I used to be known as RoganJosh on the forums and would love to somehow get my account back.

Sweet = I'm back! Many thanks to Zak33 - for reviving my account. Thanks for the kind comments you guys!

I was delighted to see this thread, it was this aspect of the RC hobby that distracted me from being stuck in front of a PC playing games and messing with 3d apps. My folks bought me a Hubsan X4 for my birthday about 5 or 6 years ago and it seized my imagination. I went on to buy about 10 micro brushed quads and learned to fly and repair them, then the big change was when I bought a "Hobby grade" GPS camera quad - which allowed me to attach a GoPro and film my flights in HD - we take this for granted now, but back then it was mindblowing. I then joined a local model flying club - which was very conservative and there was a certain level of distrust towards multirotors - so I bought a plane- which was amazing. The E-Flite Apprentice 15e - this had a beginner mode for noobs to fixed-wing - and I flew it from the fields in front of my house until I was competent enough to take it to the flying club.
Here's my maiden flight of the Apprentice - https://youtu.be/3XUbxks1YoA

So fixed-wing became my new addiction and I began to plan my entrance into FPV - although it was very expensive to get started, I managed to cobble together a basic setup and made my FPV maiden:

There were many models and crashes before I got back into Quadcopters again - this time with a Emax Nighthawk Pro - this footage is all on my channel - but it makes me shudder to watch it now.
Skipping ahead a few more years - many quadcopters later - here is where I'm at now - https://youtu.be/gx0m7mH8HG8

I feel that it was online gaming that helped me get into FPV - for anybody sitting on the fence, I say go for it - you will love it :-)
