Dare I ? yeah, why not. Another new turntable project :)

Right then, so, its time for - a new project And yes, its another TT, but this one is going to be a killer. A Lenco L75 platter & main bearing, but this time, HOPEFULLY belt driven from a Project 16v 300rpm motor. The sub rim on the platter (a masssive 5kg !) is just about 300mm diameter, so the pulley on the Project motor should, with luck, be close enough for the right speeds. If not I can either pad out the pulley or the sub rim.

My only concern is the torque on the motor - will it be man enough to drive it ? We'll see.

It's great having the right tools, the bandsaw, pillar drill and a decent set of heavy duty large diameter hole borers has meant I've only spent about 40 minutes so far just creating a temp plinth from 12mm MDF.

    Cheers, David

ahhhh yes, thanks Zak buddy, I have indeed almost finished the beastie...

Redone the Oilite phosphor bronze bearings, belt driven from a Project 16VAC motor, works a treat, speed is spot on.

Arm is a Pioneer PL12D, carpy cartridge needs changing

    and some more updates -

Now using a pair of neodymium magnets on the platter and top of the bearing so reduce mass on the bearing and therefore reduce wear and noise.
Arm will now be either a Rega RB300 or a Logic Datum
and I think it's going to have to have two motors, a pair of 300rpm Project motors

Its going to weigh a lot.

    16kg at least

Couple of big magnets and have the turntable floating! (Problem then is the side thrust! )
