Typical, I put a truntable on ebay, and this guy buys it ....

Put a rather nice Trio KD-2070 DD TT on ebay a few days ago, after advertising it in FB for a month.

The guy that bought it lives ONE MILE away

    Typical.

Hah, always the way. Getting items visible is tricky. I sold a car on Facebook once, guy had been looking out for one for ages. It was probably about the fifth time I had listed it, but for all the noise, it took that long for him to spot it.

Are you finally upgrading to one of these:

hah, nah, I make turntables, and also buy and sell. Usually I grab scrappers off car boots and refurb em, this was such a one. Cost me a fiver, new lid for £22, 20 hours work, sold it for £120

not a bad return. but I don't use fb whereas i do use the bay so I imagine this might just be a case of audience reach of the latter vs the former. Plus when I did use fb it was not ever for shopping whereas when I need things it's time to fireup e bay et al.

    So, £93 "profit".

Ntot so much a business, I presume, as a self-funding hobby that generates a bit a spare cash.

    Good idea.

Any idea how I can get my hobby (reading books) to pay for itself? Note - has to be books I enjoy.

Produce audio recordings of yourself reading them. Or serialise them as a set of you tube vids. I can see it now...

    "Are you sitting comfortably?"
"Good, because by watching this video you are giving tons of personal info to the evil corporate monsters of personal advertising and you wouldn't catch me doing that."

On youtube? Probably depends on how silly the hat is you are wearing. Try and get a kitten to wander into the shot, people like kittens

Given some of the weird Michael Rosen stuff that has gone viral, you just don't know.

    25% do you?

Note - 25%, or 100% for that matter, of beggar-all is still beggar-all.

Misunderstood language there Jim. Nothing in my question suggests I'm going to start even if the entire population of the planet said yes .... 'cos I ain't.

I just wanted to know if he really thought that. If he did, I was going to recommend he see a psychiatrist. Urgently.

In response to the OP, I'm not certain but I *think* a Hexus member bought a graphics card from me on ebay, about a day or two after I'd ended the listing on Hexus, after it being up for about a week! Likely just bad timing for me to move the listing!
